Job Summary

LaborMax Staffing is seeking an experienced Die Set-Up & Maintenance Specialist for a manufacturing operation specializing in metal grommets, washers, eyelets, snap fasteners, hole plugs, clamps, ferrules, and other precision metal components .

The Die Set-Up & Maintenance Specialist plays a critical role in the production process by ensuring presses, dies, tooling, and auxiliary equipment are properly set up, maintained, and operating efficiently. The ideal candidate has hands-on manufacturing experience and strong mechanical skills , with experience using hand tools, measuring instruments, presses, dies, and production machinery.

Key Responsibilities

• Set up and prepare presses, dies, tooling, and auxiliary equipment according to production work orders and specifications.
• Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, work orders, and production specifications .
• Analyze production orders and determine the appropriate materials, tooling, equipment, and process requirements.
• Verify the correct metal type, material thickness, tooling, and die configuration before beginning production.
• Perform machine and die setups while following established procedures and production requirements.
• Document and maintain accurate process parameters to ensure consistent and repeatable production results.
• Follow proper machine startup, shutdown, setup, and changeover procedures .
• Troubleshoot dies, presses, tooling, and production equipment to identify and correct operational problems.
• Make necessary adjustments to dies, tooling, and machine settings to maintain product quality and production efficiency.
• Inspect finished parts and workpieces for dimensions, tolerances, defects, and overall quality .
• Use precision measuring instruments, including micrometers, calipers, gauges, and other measuring tools .
• Perform routine preventive maintenance, including cleaning, lubricating, inspecting, and maintaining machine components such as shafts, bearings, dies, and tooling.
• Identify equipment issues and perform basic repairs or adjustments when appropriate.
• Develop reliable and repeatable setup and troubleshooting processes.
• Monitor equipment during production to help ensure continuous and efficient operation.
• Communicate effectively with production, quality, maintenance, and other departments to resolve issues and maintain workflow.
• Assist with training machine operators on proper equipment setup, operation, troubleshooting, and safety procedures when needed.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
• Follow all company safety procedures, PPE requirements, quality standards, and manufacturing policies.

Required Qualifications & Experience

• Previous experience in manufacturing, die setup, press operation, machine setup, tool and die, or mechanical production .
• Hands-on experience working with tools and industrial machinery is required.
• Experience setting up and adjusting presses, dies, tooling, or similar production equipment .
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, work orders, and specifications .
• Experience using precision measuring equipment such as:

  • Gauges
  • Rulers and measuring devices
• Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to identify machine, tooling, and die-related problems and make appropriate adjustments.
• Basic computer skills and ability to enter or document production information.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality parts.
• Ability to work independently while also communicating effectively with a team.
• Strong time-management and organizational skills.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.

• Ability to lift and move materials as required.
• Ability to work around manufacturing machinery while following all required safety procedures and PPE requirements.
