Job Title: VDC Specialist Job Description

The VDC Specialist supports pre-construction, design, and project management teams by leading and coordinating Building Information Modeling (BIM) and Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) activities. This role focuses on managing and analyzing models, facilitating coordination among project stakeholders, and ensuring constructability, quality, and efficiency throughout the project lifecycle. The position offers the opportunity to grow into a key leadership role within the BIM/VDC department.

• Work closely with the MEP and VDC Manager to support in-house pre-construction, design, and project management teams with day-to-day and long-term tasks, duties, and training.
• Assist the MEP and VDC Manager in developing and maintaining BIM-related contracts, standards, and documentation.
• Support the exploration and implementation of advanced VDC applications, including 4D scheduling, 5D cost modeling, and other nD solutions.
• Manage and analyze models provided by architects, engineers, trade contractors, and consultants to identify coordination and constructability issues.
• Develop accurate 3D models in Revit as needed for coordination and review purposes.
• Plan and lead collaborative BIM coordination meetings with construction teams, design teams, and trade contractors.
• Manage the overall coordination process, including clash detection, visual walkthroughs, and obtaining clash-free signoffs to help ensure projects remain on schedule and within budget.
• Conduct field checks for quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) and prepare clear, detailed site reports.
• Oversee the BIM close-out process, including the preparation and delivery of final as-built models.

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, MEP-related discipline, or a BIM-related field.
• Proficiency in Revit for developing and managing 3D models.
• Proficiency in Navisworks for coordination, clash detection, and model review.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD for drafting and coordination support.
• Strong understanding of VDC and BIM processes and their application within a business or project environment.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and submittals.
• Experience working with BIM and VDC tools such as Revit, BIM platforms, and other virtual design and construction technologies.

• Experience with advanced VDC applications such as 4D scheduling, 5D cost modeling, and other nD modeling solutions.
• Familiarity with coordinating models from multiple stakeholders, including architects, engineers, trade contractors, and consultants.
• Strong communication and facilitation skills to lead effective BIM coordination meetings.
• Attention to detail and a structured approach to QA/QC in both digital models and field conditions.
• Interest in growing into a leadership or managerial role within a BIM/VDC department.

The role is based in a large, modern office located in downtown Grand Rapids. The workspace follows an open-concept layout organized into teams, encouraging collaboration and communication across pre-construction, design, and project management groups. The environment is professional and technology-driven, with regular use of tools such as Revit, Navisworks, AutoCAD, and other BIM/VDC platforms to support project delivery and coordination.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Grand Rapids, MI.

The pay range for this position is $36.06 - $40.87/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.

This is a fully onsite position in Grand Rapids,MI.
