Position OverviewProvide high-quality advancement and enrichment experiences for Justice National Scout Camp guests in a Scout summer camp setting by facilitating and contributing to fun, safe, and engaging programs.Key ResponsibilitiesProvide leadership and management of the S.T.E.M. and Arts, Media, and Handicrafts (S.T.E.A.M.) staffCreate and effectively deliver formal/informal (ongoing) feedbackCoordinate all program logistics, including entering or turning in advancement paperwork in a timely mannerInstruct and engage Scouts (ages 11-17) in S.T.E.M., arts, media, and handicrafts merit badgesPresent to groups of 5-20 Scouts (youth) to transfer knowledge and empower application of skills and conceptsManage or assist with the setup, maintenance, takedown, activities, and camp-wide programsModel the Scout Oath and Law in daily interactionsMaintain a clean, organized, inspected, neat, and safe work areaPerform additional duties assigned by SBR leadershipAbide by policies and procedures outlined in the SBR staff handbookQualificationsMinimum age: 18+Comfortable speaking and presenting in front of youth and adultsPrevious S.T.E.M, arts/crafts/media, and/or Scouting experience/education strongly preferredPrevious leadership experience and previous experience at the Summit preferredWilling to become a registered Scouting America member (includes background screening)Comfortable using Microsoft Teams for daily work-related communicationPhysical & Practical RequirementsAbility to stand, walk, and hike, up to 8 hours daily and ability to lift/move up to 50 poundsComplete the Annual Health and Medical Record, including height/weight guidelinesHousing: 10'x12' platform tent in Staff Camp | Uniform: Summit Staff Uniform | Work Hours: 50+Desired TraitsHigh-level emotional intelligence (such as self/social awareness and team dynamics)Positive and cheerful attitude with a strong customer-service focusAdaptability in a fast-paced environment with ability to learn/develop hard and soft skillsAbility to connect with individuals from diverse age groups, maturity, and backgroundsAbout the Summit Bechtel Reserve and the Justice National Scout CampThe Summit Bechtel Reserve (SBR) is a 10,600-acre outdoor adventure and education facility located near New River Gorge National Park in southern West Virginia. As one of Scouting America's National High Adventure Bases, the Summit provides transformative experiences for Scouts and other youth. At Justice National Scout Camp, Scouts (ages 10-17) participate in more than 80 merit badge programs in areas such as aquatics, climbing, S.T.E.M., arts and media, citizenship, and outdoor skills. They also enjoy high-adventure activities like mountain biking, rafting, and skateboarding, as well as classic camp traditions like flag ceremonies and campfires.
