Position - Billing Specialist - FLSA Status - Hourly Non-Exempt

Reports to - Billing Manager - Shift - 8am to 4:30pm

Reporters - 0 - Lunch - 30 minutes

Wage: $16.00/hr-$17.00/hr

Education:

High School Diploma or GED required

Medical Billing/Insurance Aging Experience required

Medical Terminology Knowledge preferred

Strong understanding of medical billing and collection processes required

Outstanding communication, customer service, and interpersonal skills required

Level 2 Background screening REQUIRED

Responsibilities:

• Review and work all assigned accounts on Aging Report, including rebilling, sending documentation, and writing appeals.
• Work rejected claims in the clearinghouse, ensuring all information is accurate and complete.
• Transmit information or documents to customers and employees, using a computer, mail, or facsimile machine.
• Hear and resolve complaints from customers, employees, or the public.
• Perform various administrative or clerical functions such as maintaining records and inventory.
• Assisting reception with any eligibility issues
• Notifying patients of any insurance issues and properly documenting as such
• Operate telephone to answer, screen, or forward calls, providing information, taking messages
• Analyze data to determine answers to questions from customers or members of the public
• Other duties as assigned by the billing management team.

Physical Requirements:

• Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting of patients, manual and finger dexterity, and hand-eye coordination.
• Requires standing, walking, and sitting for extensive periods of time
• Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to fifty (50) pounds
• Requires corrected vision, hearing, and speech within normal ranges
• Requires working under stressful conditions and sometimes irregular hours
• Potential contact with bloodborne pathogens, bodily secretions, etc.
