Position: 166432 Nuclear Medicine Technologist Location: Houston, TX 77030 Pay Rate: $57.80 per hour Assignment Dates: 02/23/2026 – 11/22/2026 Schedule: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday: 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM Saturday: 6:00 AM – 3:00 PM Full-Time Start Date: Flexible Assignment Type: Temporary to Perm (opportunity to extend or convert to permanent based on business needs) Job Summary The Nuclear Medicine Technologist provides highly skilled technical performance and oversight of Nuclear Medicine and Positron Emission Tomography (PET) procedures. This role requires strong PET experience, a patient-centered mindset, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced clinical environment while maintaining strict safety, quality, and regulatory standards. Key Responsibilities Perform Nuclear Medicine and PET imaging procedures with technical accuracy and adherence to protocols. Provide patient care within scope of practice, including IV insertion, POCT, patient interviews, assessment, preparation, education, and discharge. Prepare and administer radiopharmaceuticals in compliance with ALARA principles and radiation safety regulations. Screen patients for implanted devices and manage imaging clearance, including required reporting and escalation. Monitor patient, staff, and visitor safety within clinical environments, including Hot Lab and imaging areas. Recognize patient distress and initiate or assist with emergency response teams (Code Blue, MERIT, DIURT). Apply infection control practices, sterile or aseptic techniques, and safe contrast administration following the six rights of medication administration. Identify and communicate critical findings to the interpreting radiologist promptly. Maintain cleanliness, organization, and supply management of imaging and patient care areas. Monitor, decontaminate, and properly dispose of radioactive materials in compliance with regulations. Ensure accurate patient identification, documentation, and data entry across all required systems (RIS, PACS, modality systems). Utilize critical thinking to support patient needs and elevate concerns appropriately. Support patient flow, on-time starts, room turnaround, and operational efficiency. Travel to off-site regional imaging locations as needed. Participate in downtime procedures during system outages and follow reassignment instructions. Communicate effectively using approved tools and perform SBAR hand-offs. Participate in quality improvement initiatives, ongoing education, and departmental meetings. Provide education, coaching, and mentorship to students, technologists, and staff. Ensure compliance with Joint Commission, ACR, state, and federal regulations. Operate nuclear medicine, PET, CT, and hot lab equipment independently, including QA activities. Report equipment issues to appropriate engineering and leadership teams. Maintain productivity and quality benchmarks with minimal error rates. Complete all mandatory training, continuing education, and safety preparedness activities. Perform additional duties as assigned. Critical Information for Candidates Primary assignment will be in the PET area; strong PET experience is essential. The department has implemented workflow improvements and seeks adaptable, open-minded candidates. Training is available; candidates should demonstrate a positive attitude and willingness to learn. Interviews will be conducted virtually and may include a panel interview. Pewter-colored scrubs are required. Education & Licensure Requirements Required: Associate’s degree in Nuclear Medicine Technology or a related field. Certification as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist (ARRT) or Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist (NMTCB). Texas Medical Board licensure as a Certified Medical Radiologic Technologist. CPR certification. Preferred: Bachelor’s degree. Additional certifications: PET, ACLS, PALS/PEARS. Experience Requirements Required: Minimum of one year of imaging experience as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist and/or PET Technologist. Preferred: Experience in a high-volume or academic medical environment.
