HVAC SALES TECHNICIAN

If you can fix it right the first time and walk a homeowner through their options without the pressure tactics, this role pays you for every dollar of it: a $30/hr base plus 6% on everything you sell, with no cap. Strong closers here earn $100K–$300K+. Our client is a growing residential HVAC company serving the greater West Palm Beach area. They keep the pay plan simple, with no moving goalposts and no promised bonuses that never show up. You diagnose, repair, and sell, and the install crew handles the big jobs you close.

THE BASICS

Location: West Palm Beach, FL

Pay: $30/hr base + 6% commission on everything you sell (uncapped). The base is flexible for candidates with a proven, documented track record.

Service Area: Greater West Palm Beach area. Candidates must live in Palm Beach County.

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM start. End time varies, typically 5–6 PM depending on season and workload.

On-Call: Rotating, one week out of every four. On-call hours are 8 AM–8:30 PM only, with no overnights.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Run maintenance, repair, and free estimate calls. The work is mostly residential, plus some light commercial on equipment 5 tons and under.
• Diagnose cooling and electrical issues accurately and independently. You should rarely need tech support, roughly 1 in 30–40 calls.
• Make on-the-spot repairs to get the customer cooling again, such as contactors, electrical components, fan motors, and refrigerant.
• Give customers clear estimates and multiple options on every call, from a basic repair to a full system replacement.
• Sell repairs, maintenance agreements, add-ons like UV lights and surge protectors, and new systems up to $15K+.
• Sell larger jobs that other technicians or the install crew will perform, such as system changeouts, coil and compressor replacements, ductwork, and duct cleaning.
• Take the company truck home and drive straight to your first call each morning.
• Cover your on-call week in the rotation.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

Required:

• 4+ years of full-time, hands-on residential HVAC field experience (school and part-time work don't count toward this)
• Ability to diagnose and repair common cooling and electrical issues on your own from day one
• Your own tools, and truck-ready
• Strong communication skills and comfort presenting options and closing sales
• A primarily residential background (experience that's mostly large commercial or chiller work isn't the right fit)
• Valid driver's license and an insurable driving record
• Residence in Palm Beach County
• Willingness to submit to a background check
• Availability for the one-in-four on-call rotation
• Steady work history with long tenure at previous employers

Nice to Have (not required):

• Brazing and torch skills for sealed-system repairs like coils and compressors
• A documented sales track record (the target is around $1M in annual revenue sold, and verifiable numbers can support a higher base)
• Light commercial experience on equipment 5 tons and under
