By fostering meaningful connections within our community, we create a ripple effect of positive change, rebuilding lives and inspiring hope far beyond our doors.\n \n \nPosition Title: Psychologist\nEmployment Status: Part-Time\nClassification: Non-Exempt\nSalary Range: $45 – $65 per hour, BOE\nSupervisor: Clinical Director\n\nSummary of Major Responsibilities\nThe Part-Time Psychologist serves as a licensed doctoral-level clinical presence within San Diego Transformation Center's outpatient Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) and Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) for mental health and substance use disorders, providing the clinical depth, diagnostic precision, and supervisory leadership that anchors the organization's delivery of the ARISE method. Working in close partnership with the Clinical Director and the broader multidisciplinary team, the Psychologist conducts comprehensive mental health and biopsychosocial assessments, renders and documents DSM-5-TR diagnoses, administers and interprets psychological and psychometric testing where clinically indicated, and translates those findings into individualized, measurement-informed treatment plans that reflect each client's whole-person needs across clinical, medical, relational, vocational, and community domains. The Psychologist provides clinical supervision to Psychological Associates in accordance with California Board of Psychology regulations, maintaining written supervision agreements, delivering and documenting required weekly supervision hours, co-signing clinical documentation, and assuming professional responsibility for the care delivered by each supervisee. In addition, the Psychologist facilitates process and psychoeducational groups, serves as a consultative clinical resource to therapists, case managers, medical staff, and program leadership on complex or high-acuity presentations, participates in crisis consultation and risk assessment, contributes to chart review and quality assurance activities, and helps train and elevate clinical staff. Across every function, the Psychologist models the continuity, precision, and long-view orientation that define the ARISE method and upholds the documentation, ethical, and regulatory standards expected of a Joint Commission accredited behavioral health organization.\n\nDetailed Duty Statement\n\nProvide clinical supervision to Psychological Associates in full compliance with California Board of Psychology supervision regulations, including execution and maintenance of a written supervision agreement for each supervisee prior to the start of supervised professional experience, delivery of required direct individual supervision hours each week in which the Associate provides services, and timely, accurate verification and documentation of accrued supervised professional experience hours.\nAssume and retain professional and ethical responsibility for the clinical care delivered by each supervised Psychological Associate, including reviewing and co-signing assessments, diagnoses, treatment plans, and progress notes, and ensure supervisees practice within the scope of their training, registration, and demonstrated competence.\nConduct comprehensive mental health assessments and diagnostic evaluations for clients admitted to PHP and IOP levels of care, including presenting problem, symptom history and course, psychiatric and treatment history, substance use history, trauma history, risk profile, functional impairment, strengths, and readiness for change.\nComplete comprehensive biopsychosocial assessments within 24 to 72 hours of admission, addressing medical, psychiatric, substance use, social, family, cultural, and spiritual dimensions, and ensuring the assessment produces actionable clinical direction rather than a static intake record.\nRender, document, and — where clinical presentation evolves — revise DSM-5-TR diagnoses, articulating diagnostic rationale, differential considerations, and co-occurring mental health and substance use disorder formulations that inform level of care and modality selection.\nAdminister, score, and interpret psychological and psychometric testing where clinically indicated, and prepare integrated written reports with clear, practical recommendations that the treatment team, referring providers, and the client can act upon.\nAdminister and clinically interpret standardized measurement tools in use across the program, including CIWA, COWS, AUDIT, and DAST, and apply results to treatment planning, level of care decisions, and ongoing progress monitoring.\nDevelop and continually refine individualized, multidimensional treatment plans in collaboration with the client and the multidisciplinary team, using ASAM criteria and other data-informed indicators to support appropriate level-of-care placement and transition planning within the organization's PHP and IOP continuum.\nFacilitate process, psychoeducational, and skills-based therapy groups, and provide individual therapy as assigned, drawing on the organization's onsite evidence-based modalities including EMDR, Brainspotting, ART, RRT, ETT, Sensorimotor therapy, Somatic Experiencing, CBT, DBT, IFS, EFT, Motivational Interviewing, Narrative therapy, Positive Psychology, and grief counseling.\nServe as a consultative clinical resource to therapists, counselors, case managers, medical staff, and program leadership on complex, high-acuity, diagnostically unclear, or clinically stalled cases, including clients receiving Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) and those with significant co-occurring presentations.\nCoordinate closely with the Medical Director team and medical staff on the clinical interpretation of assessment findings, laboratory and genetic testing results, and MAT considerations, ensuring psychological formulation and medical decision-making inform one another rather than proceeding in parallel.\nParticipate in crisis consultation, suicide and violence risk assessment, safety planning, and clinical decision-making regarding urgent clinical escalation or coordinated referral, and support the program's crisis response protocols and referral pathways for services provided outside the facility, including coordinated referral for TMS and Neurofeedback.\nComplete all clinical documentation with accuracy, clinical specificity, and timeliness, meeting the organizational standard that notes be completed no later than 12:00 PM the day following the date of service, and complete corrections identified through audit by the designated deadline.\nParticipate in chart review, peer review, utilization review, and quality assurance and performance improvement activities, identifying documentation and clinical practice gaps and contributing to corrective action in a manner consistent with Joint Commission standards and applicable county, state, and payer requirements.\nDeliver clinical training and in-service education to staff on assessment, diagnosis, risk management, trauma-informed practice, ethics, and the clinical application of the ARISE method, and contribute to onboarding and ongoing competency development of clinical personnel.\nModel and operationalize the five tenets of the ARISE method — Whole-Person Integration First; Continuity of Relationship as Clinical Intervention / One Team One Journey; Radical Integration Across Life Domains; Long-Term Transformation Over Short-Term Stabilization; and Individualized Precision Over Standardized Protocol — in direct care, supervision, consultation, and team culture.\nMaintain an active, unrestricted California psychology license in good standing, meet all continuing education requirements including those specific to clinical supervision, adhere to the APA Ethical Principles of Psychologists and Code of Conduct, and comply with HIPAA, 42 CFR Part 2, mandated reporting obligations, and all applicable organizational policies.\nSupport the multidisciplinary team environment created by the organization's 1:8 clinical staff ratio, participating in treatment team meetings, case conferences, and care coordination so that continuity of relationship and continuity of information are preserved across each client's episode of care.\nAnd other duties as assigned.\n\nQualifications Needed\nRequired\n\nDoctoral degree (PhD or PsyD) in Clinical Psychology, Counseling Psychology, or a closely related field from an APA-accredited or regionally accredited institution.\nCurrent, active, and unrestricted licensure as a Clinical Psychologist in the State of California, in good standing with the California Board of Psychology.\nEligible and qualified to serve as a primary supervisor for Psychological Associates under California Board of Psychology supervision regulations, including completion of required supervision training and continuing education, and willingness to execute and maintain written supervision agreements.\nDemonstrated competence in comprehensive mental health assessment, biopsychosocial assessment, differential diagnosis using DSM-5-TR, and diagnostic formulation of co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders.\nExperience providing clinical supervision, clinical consultation, or clinical training to licensed clinicians, prelicensed registrants, or graduate-level trainees.\nWorking knowledge of ASAM criteria and their application to outpatient level of care placement, along with familiarity with standardized behavioral health measurement tools.\nExperience facilitating therapy and psychoeducational groups with adult behavioral health or substance use disorder populations.\nDemonstrated ability to produce timely, accurate, clinically defensible documentation in an electronic health record within established deadlines.\nWorking knowledge of HIPAA, 42 CFR Part 2, mandated reporting requirements, and professional ethical standards governing psychological practice in California.\nAbility to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team and to communicate clinical reasoning clearly to clinical colleagues, medical staff, program leadership, clients, and families.\nAvailability to work a consistent part-time schedule that supports required weekly supervision of Psychological Associates and program clinical coverage needs.\nSuccessful completion of a criminal background check, including annual re-check, and compliance with all credentialing and pre-employment requirements.\n\nPreferred\n\nTwo or more years of post-licensure clinical experience in outpatient behavioral health, with direct experience in PHP and/or IOP settings.\nPrior experience in a Joint Commission-accredited behavioral health organization, including participation in survey readiness, chart review, or quality assurance and performance improvement activities.\nAdvanced training or certification in one or more of the organization's onsite modalities, particularly EMDR, Brainspotting, ART, DBT, IFS, or Somatic Experiencing.\nExperience with psychological and psychometric test battery selection, administration, and integrated report writing in a behavioral health treatment setting.\nFamiliarity with precision medicine approaches in behavioral health, including the clinical interpretation of mental health genetic testing and laboratory data in collaboration with a medical director team.\nExperience serving clients supported by county contracts or public behavioral health systems, including familiarity with associated documentation and outcome reporting expectations.\nExperience supporting MAT-involved clients within an integrated mental health and substance use disorder treatment model.\nBilingual English/Spanish fluency, or demonstrated experience providing culturally and linguistically responsive care consistent with CLAS standards.\nPrior experience developing or delivering clinical staff training and in-service education.\n\n \nThe Part-Time Psychologist at Prosperous Health San Diego:\nYou are the clinician others turn to when the picture is complicated. In this role, your doctoral training is not filed away for occasional consultation — it shapes how clients are understood from their first assessment forward, and it shapes the next generation of psychologists learning their craft under your supervision. You will sit with the cases that do not resolve neatly, bring diagnostic clarity where there has been confusion, and help a team of clinicians see the whole person behind the referral. When you supervise a Psychological Associate here, you are not signing off on hours; you are helping form a clinician who will carry your standard of care into rooms you will never be in.\nYou will do that work
