The Patient Services Specialist plays a vital role in ensuring smooth front desk operations and efficient office coordination within a small team at a private practice. This position involves managing patient scheduling, insurance verifications, medical records, and communication across multiple departments to deliver exceptional patient care and support.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate patient scheduling and appointment management
• Verify insurance coverage and process referrals and prior authorizations
• Manage patient intake and maintain accurate medical records using Epic EMR
• Provide excellent customer service and resolve patient inquiries or issues promptly
• Support billing activities and assist with front desk operations including phone and fax communications
• Facilitate communication between patients, healthcare providers, and various departments
• Maintain efficient office coordination while managing time and prioritizing tasks effectively
• Demonstrate problem-solving skills and collaborate well with team members and patients
• Primarily working in a clerical setting, however the ability to juggle other duties as assigned is essential

Required Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in patient services
• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Proficiency with Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems, especially Epic
• Strong customer service and communication skills
• Experience with insurance verification processes
• Effective problem solving and time management abilities
• High attention to detail

Preferred Qualifications

• Any healthcare certifications are advantageous
• Documented previous EPIC experience is a must
• Post high school education a plus
