Principal Accountant (Grants) We pay our Principal Accountants a salary of $74,443 - $85,612, depending on experience and qualifications. Monitor and reconcile grant expenditures to ensure all grant-funded activities are recorded under the appropriate grant program and comply with federal, state, local, and grantor regulations. Review capital project expenditures for eligibility and compliance with grant agreements, procurement requirements, contract provisions, Davis-Bacon requirements where applicable, and approved project budgets. Coordinate with engineering, public works, utilities, procurement, and project management departments to ensure proper accounting and reporting of grant-funded capital projects. Collaborate with departments to ensure timely reimbursement requests for grant-funded projects and provide guidance regarding grant policies, allowable costs, procurement requirements, and financial compliance procedures. Compile supporting documentation for grant reimbursement requests and prepare drawdown submissions to federal, state, and other grantor agencies for supervisory approval. Assist with preparation of the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR) and maintain the Schedule of Expenditures of Federal Awards (SEFA), including gathering required information from departments and ensuring accuracy of federal expenditures reported. Support annual external audits and Single Audit activities by organizing documentation, preparing schedules, responding to auditor requests, and ensuring compliance with grant and accounting standards. Required to work as an essential employee before, during and after an emergency or disaster, whether natural or acts of war. Stay abreast of, and comply with, all City and departmental policies and procedures. Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned by Director and/or their designee(s). Qualifications Formal Education Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Business, Finance, or a related field from an accredited college or university. Relatable Work Experience Five years of accounting experience are required, including at least three years specifically in grant accounting. Municipal experience preferred.
