HR Generalist, Academic Systems and Compensation Position Summary The Human Resources Generalist, Academic Systems & Compensation manages compensation and HR technology for the university. Responsibilities include managing part‑time faculty employment and pay, administering the Banner HRIS for part‑time faculty, supporting data and access requests, maintaining Banner systems, and completing assigned HR projects. This full‑time, at‑will position reports to the Associate Vice President of HR Technology Solutions and is hybrid, requiring on‑site attendance three days per week in Chicago. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution. Minimum of two years of progressive human resources experience. Demonstrated success in compensation management and payroll support. Meticulous attention to detail. Positive and professional demeanor. Experience or understanding of an HR information system. Proficiency with a report‑writer. Advanced skills in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word. Ability to deliver effective presentations to both small and large groups. Excellent organizational, written and verbal communication, and interpersonal skills. Judgment and discretion in establishing and maintaining working relationships. Preferred Qualifications Experience with Banner HR (HRIS) and Argos (report‑writer). At least one year in higher education or a not‑for‑profit sector. Union experience, including contract interpretation. Key Responsibilities Compensation and Benefits Administration Serve as a strategic liaison with college deans, department chairs, program directors, and administrative staff regarding faculty and staff compensation and benefits. Oversee and approve Banner HR pay entries for adjunct, full‑time, part‑time, annual, and emeritus faculty, including overload, stipends, and job assignments. Administer time‑off policies such as vacation, sick, and holiday in accordance with university policies. Coordinate and approve electronic PAFs submitted by the Chicago College of Performing Arts. Review and process course add/drop, independent study, and course‑by‑arrangement forms submitted by departments. Human Resources / HRIS Support HRIS operations, ensuring data integrity and system performance. Assist in HR audit activities to validate employee and benefits data. Ensure accuracy of benefits and faculty pay information on the HR website. Act as a back‑up for the HR chatbot. Own and maintain Human Resources Dynamic Forms templates, building new templates as needed. Administer university‑wide communications and maintain HR intranet and website content accuracy. Administer employee access to supervisor functions and system reporting structures. Process position requisitions and support workflows. Labor Relations Maintain adjunct teaching history and prepare reports for adjunct union representatives. Update and communicate the RAFO bargaining unit member census each fall and spring term. Coordinate union dues payments with RAFO union leadership and payroll. Manage the adjunct faculty appointment letter process each semester and ensure compliance with union contract terms. Ensure consistent implementation of the collective bargaining agreement with the Roiadjunct Faculty Organization (RAFO). Payroll Administration Support review and validation of payroll processing for accuracy, timeliness, and compliance. Audit and maintain payroll‑related data within HRIS, including earnings, deductions, and tax withholdings. Process and update employee payroll elections, including Form W‑4 entries. Partner with Payroll to resolve discrepancies and employee inquiries. Contribute to continuous improvement of payroll processes and controls.
