Assistant Controller

Job Description Summary As an Assistant Controller working for Taylor Morrison, you will be responsible for working alongside the Controller and reviewing division’s financial statements, general ledger, cost accounting, payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, budgeting, headcount and more. Responsibilities Division reporting and month‑end close process (weekly, month‑end, quarterly) with review by Controller and VP Finance. Periodic operational reports such as volume risk, backlog margin, etc. Assist with the annual budget, monthly and quarterly forecast process (includes maintenance of subdivision files, CCP, etc.). Preparation of supporting information for weekly cash flow forecasts. Prepare division sales commissions and payroll calculations. Prepare monthly general ledger and bank reconciliations. Prepare and audit weekly unit report. Prepare, audit and upload weekly sales margin report. Ensure accuracy and maintenance of entries from the fixed asset reporting system. Assist closing coordinator with pre‑audit HUDs for closings and closing homes via JE templates. Preparation and analysis of OH variance reports. Assist AP admin with review of property tax payments. Prepare inter‑company account reconciliations. Sign‑off and posting of cash receipt journal entries. Assist AP admin with maintaining all coding schedules. Responsible for miscellaneous management reporting. Maintain system financial data in homebuilding software (Newstar). Perform other duties as assigned. Interview, select, train employees; set rates of pay & hours of work; handle grievances; appraise productivity. Plan work, apportion work among employees, determine equipment or materials needed. Plan budgets, monitor legal/regulatory compliance, provide safety and security of workplace. Qualifications & Competencies Business Acumen. Customer Focus. Developing direct reports and others. Drive for Results. Priority Setting. Self‑Knowledge. Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting. Strong knowledge of Excel. Newstar and Soloman experience strongly preferred. Past experience in an accounting position with a homebuilder a plus. Credit report in good standing. FLSA Status: Exempt. Taylor Morrison experience and/or successful completion of training program may override required education and/or experience requirement. Essential Functions Report to Division/Corporate Office/Community daily and adhere to schedule. Oversee direct reports daily and provide guidance as needed. Access, input, and retrieve information from a computer and/or electronic device. Conduct face‑to‑face conversations with customers, co‑workers and higher level manager. Sit or stand for long periods of time and move around work environment as needed. Operate a motor vehicle. Comply with company policies and procedures. Physical Demands Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time. The ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
