Job Description
The Maintenance Technician maintains, repairs, and fabricates mechanical systems and equipment within a large, modern manufacturing environment. This role supports multiple facilities and requires flexibility to work across different plants and shifts while ensuring equipment reliability, safety, and optimal performance.
Responsibilities

• Perform mechanical maintenance on production and facility equipment, including inspection, troubleshooting, repair, and replacement of components.
• Replace mat top chains, linked chains with master links, laced belts, rubber bands for rollers, and belt applications that require the use of specialty equipment while following equipment-specific instructions.
• Replace bearings, shafts, rollers, sprockets, seals, and gaskets to restore equipment to proper operating condition.
• Remove and install gearboxes and motors, ensuring correct alignment and secure mounting.
• Drill, tap, and thread bolt holes accurately and safely to support equipment installation and repair.
• Use concrete hammer drills and anchors to securely mount and fasten equipment to floors and structures.
• Operate and maintain basic hand tools and battery-operated tools such as drills, grinders, reciprocating saws, impact guns, routers, wrenches, and screwdrivers.
• Apply grease and other lubricants to lubrication points using appropriate tools and techniques in accordance with maintenance procedures.
• Change V-belts for fans and work with pulley systems that drive those fans, ensuring correct tension and alignment.
• Maintain and repair dock plates, dock doors, and hydraulic cylinders to support safe and efficient loading and unloading operations.
• Perform basic plumbing, painting, and general building repair tasks as part of facilities maintenance.
• Use a tape measure to take accurate measurements for belt take-ups, equipment placement, and layout of equipment assets.
• Use torque wrenches to tighten bolts, screws, and other fasteners to specified torque values.
• Fabricate and modify parts, supports, and structures to support machinery and equipment, using appropriate fabrication tools and techniques.
• Use machine shop equipment such as mills, lathes, milling machines, and surface grinders to manufacture or repair parts for machines.
• Operate fabrication cutting and shaping equipment including bandsaws, ironworkers, plasma cutters, CNC lasers, press brakes, and plate/tube rollers.
• Perform welding using MIG, TIG, and stick processes to repair or fabricate components and structures.
• Participate in hands-on technical evaluations and demonstrate knowledge of mechanical components such as bearings, contactors, bolts, solenoid valves, taps, sensors, belts, sprockets, master links, air regulators, and related parts.
• Interpret and explain the function and application of various mechanical and pneumatic components such as drill bits, air hose connectors, clamps, retaining rings, shaft rings, breathers, pins, punch-out tools, chain links, grease fittings, and fasteners.
• Collaborate with maintenance supervisors and team members to prioritize work, support production needs, and ensure timely completion of maintenance tasks.
• Use computer systems and HMIs as needed to support troubleshooting, documentation, and equipment operation.
• Follow all safety procedures, maintain a clean work area, and support a culture of continuous improvement in maintenance practices.

Essential Skills

• Strong mechanical aptitude with hands-on experience in industrial maintenance.
• Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot mechanical issues and identify root causes effectively.
• Proficiency in replacing chains, belts, bearings, shafts, rollers, sprockets, gearboxes, motors, seals, and gaskets.
• Ability to drill, tap, and thread bolt holes accurately and safely.
• Experience using concrete hammer drills and anchors to secure equipment.
• Proficient use of basic hand tools and battery-operated tools, including drills, grinders, reciprocating saws, impact guns, routers, wrenches, and screwdrivers.
• Ability to properly apply grease and other lubricants using appropriate tools and methods.
• Experience changing V-belts and working with pulley systems for fans and similar equipment.
• Ability to work on dock plates, dock doors, and hydraulic cylinders.
• Basic skills in plumbing, painting, and general building repair for facilities maintenance.
• Ability to read and use a tape measure accurately for precise measurements.
• Ability to use torque wrenches and apply correct torque specifications to fasteners.
• Fabrication skills related to machine support, including making parts and building structures.
• Experience operating mills, lathes, milling machines, and surface grinders in a machine shop environment.
• Ability to use fabrication equipment such as bandsaws, ironworkers, plasma cutters, CNC lasers, press brakes, and plate/tube rollers.
• Proficiency in MIG, TIG, and stick welding.
• Good troubleshooting abilities across mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
• Strong mechanical and mathematical aptitude to support accurate measurements and calculations.
• Basic computer skills to support maintenance documentation and interaction with HMIs.
• Effective oral and written communication skills to interact with supervisors, peers, and other departments.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience in industrial maintenance within a manufacturing or production environment.
• Familiarity with hydraulics, pneumatics, gearboxes, HMIs, bearings, bolts, master links, belts, sprockets, and pillow block bearings.
• Comfort participating in hands-on, component-based technical interviews and assessments.
• Ability to explain the function and differences between components such as contactors, solenoid valves, taps, sensors, air regulators, and various fasteners.
• Capability to support both primary and secondary plant locations as needed.
• Willingness to work on second and third shifts according to operational needs.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a maintenance team in a fast-paced environment.

Work Environment
The role is based in a very clean, climate-controlled manufacturing facility, providing a comfortable and modern work setting. The site is large and well-equipped, offering access to advanced machine shop, fabrication, and welding equipment, including mills, lathes, milling machines, surface grinders, bandsaws, ironworkers, plasma cutters, CNC lasers, press brakes, and plate/tube rollers. The environment supports both second and third shift operations, so you will work within a structured shift schedule. Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Winston-Salem, NC.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $32.67 - $32.67/hr.
