We are looking for a passionate, experienced Director of Construction to own execution excellence across WeRevive’s entire construction pipeline—from residential flips and client renovations to future developments and increasingly technical projects.

This person will lead and develop our construction team, build a deep bench of trusted trade partners, and create the systems that allow us to scale without sacrificing profitability, speed, safety, or quality.

This is a true player-coach position: approximately 80% leadership and systems development and 20% direct project execution . You may personally lead one or two flagship or first-of-kind projects, but your primary responsibility is building a construction operation that performs at a high level without depending on you to personally solve every problem.

This is NOT your typical office job.

This is an opportunity to help build the construction engine behind an ambitious, growing real estate company. The position is primarily home and field-based, with meetings held over Zoom and occasionally at our Miramar office.

You are the SUPERSTAR we are looking for if…

• You have successfully led a construction team managing a pipeline of projects—not just managed your own projects.

• You know how to drive multiple construction projects to predictable, profitable completion without allowing quality, schedules, budgets, or communication to slip.

• You understand residential construction from simple renovations through complex development, including plans, permits, inspections, sequencing, scopes, budgeting, and trade coordination.

• You naturally think two to twelve weeks ahead and identify bottlenecks, resource constraints, and expensive mistakes before they happen.

• You know how to develop project managers, foremen, contractors, vendors, and trade partners while holding them to a high standard.

• You are a systems thinker who builds repeatable processes instead of becoming the permanent solution to every recurring problem.

• You can guide owners and internal stakeholders toward smart construction decisions, then execute the approved vision.

• You understand how construction decisions affect margin, throughput, customer experience, and the overall success of the business.

• You communicate clearly, directly, and without drama. You tell the truth, solve problems quickly, and keep people aligned.

• You have extreme ownership. No excuses. No finger-pointing. You take responsibility and get things DONE.

• You have the emotional intelligence to push people toward higher standards without unnecessarily damaging trust or relationships.

Compensation:

$150,000 - $200,000

Responsibilities:

• Lead, support, and hold the Construction Success team accountable to KPI performance and operational excellence.

• Own the performance of WeRevive’s full construction pipeline—from residential flips and client renovations to future development projects.

• Build, improve, and optimize the systems, workflows, standards, and reporting needed to scale the construction department.

• Manage department-wide capacity, project sequencing, timelines, throughput, and resources to protect budgets, schedules, margins, and quality.

• Build and maintain a high-performing bench of foremen, contractors, vendors, subcontractors, and trade partners.

• Guide the team through complex construction challenges while removing department-level obstacles that slow execution.

• Personally lead flagship or first-of-kind projects when needed to establish the standard for future execution.

• Enforce WeRevive’s quality-control and safety standards through regular site inspections, audits, and progress reviews.

• Collaborate with Sales, Underwriting, Acquisitions, Property Success, and Finance to align scopes, budgets, expectations, and business goals.

• Lead from the front and do whatever it takes to help the team win.

Qualifications: Must Haves

• 7+ years of progressive residential construction experience, including leadership responsibility.

• Proven experience leading and developing project managers, field personnel, contractors, vendors, and subcontractors.

• Experience overseeing multiple active residential construction projects simultaneously.

• Deep knowledge of residential renovations, plans, permitting, inspections, code requirements, scopes of work, scheduling, budgeting, and construction sequencing.

• Ability to read and interpret residential construction plans and drawings fluently.

• Demonstrated success protecting budgets, schedules, quality standards, and project margins.

• Experience building or improving construction systems, workflows, reporting, and accountability processes.

• Strong understanding of vendor sourcing, onboarding, performance management, and trade-partner development.

• Exceptional leadership, organization, communication, and decision-making skills.

• Ability to make sound decisions and maintain accountability under pressure.

• Reliable transportation and willingness to travel throughout San Diego County.

• Tech-savvy and comfortable using project management software, spreadsheets, CRMs, and performance dashboards.

Highly preferred:

• Experience with larger renovations, ground-up construction, multifamily, modular construction, or development projects.

• California contractor’s license.

• Proficient in Spanish.
