Senior Project Accountant

The Senior Project Accountant oversees the full financial lifecycle of large-scale precast and prestressed concrete projects. This role manages job costing, contract compliance, billing accuracy, accounts receivable, and financial controls across manufacturing and construction-support operations. The ideal candidate brings strong analytical skills, deep construction/manufacturing accounting experience, and the ability to manage multiple high-value projects in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage full lifecycle project accounting from contract award through closeout
• Ensure accurate job costing, financial tracking, and documentation compliance
• Lead project billing including progress, milestone, and retainage billing
• Oversee accounts receivable, payment application, aging review, and collections
• Administer lien rights processes and support preliminary notices and filings
• Maintain accurate WIP reporting, revenue recognition, and cost analysis
• Partner with operations and estimating to improve cost tracking and forecasting
• Manage multi-state sales and use tax reporting and compliance
• Maintain organized, audit-ready project files and documentation
• Recommend improvements to accounting systems, workflows, and reporting
• Support monthly/quarterly close and additional tasks assigned by leadership

Ideal Candidate Profile

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (or equivalent experience)
• 5-8 years of progressive experience in construction, project, or manufacturing cost accounting
• Strong understanding of job costing, WIP accounting, revenue recognition, and contract accounting
• Experience managing accounts receivable and collections in a project-based environment
• Background in precast, concrete manufacturing, construction, or heavy industrial settings preferred
• Advanced Excel skills; experience with Sage 300 CRE or similar ERP systems preferred
• Familiarity with document management systems (Ironclad, DocuSign, Laserfiche, etc.)
• Strong understanding of AIA/AGC contract documents and mechanic's lien laws
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and time management skills
• High attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple high-value projects
