Early Careers Recruiter

The Opportunity

Black & Veatch has an exciting opportunity for a dynamic, driven, and team-oriented Recruiter to join our award-winning Early Careers team. In this role, you will partner closely with internal stakeholders, team members, and school contacts across the United States to source, engage, and recruit top early-career talent. This position will help develop and execute recruiting strategies, strengthen university relationships, support brand-building efforts, and contribute to recruiting events that advance the company’s early career talent needs.

The Team

Black & Veatch’s Business Enablement consists of critical groups that help enable the organization's people, projects, and businesses to be as successful as possible.   Functions in this group include Digital & Information Technology, Global Finance, Global Human Resources, Legal, Risk Management, and Government Affairs and Real Estate and Building Services. 

Key Responsibilities

•    Develop innovative recruitment strategies supported by data-driven insights and in partnership with business partners
•    Proactively assess and improve recruitment strategies as part of the department’s continuous improvement strategy
•    Source and engage talent through university partnerships, talent communities, referrals, candidate databases, and other recruiting channels to support current and future hiring needs.
•    Conduct phone screens with candidates to determine if position requirements are met, as well as organizational fit. Forward top prospects to hiring department for review.
•    Ensure hiring managers have quality information for hiring decisions, such as application, resume, transcripts, references, etc.
•    Provide consistent, top-tier experience for all stakeholders, including candidates, hiring managers, college and university partners, and other business stakeholders
•    Discusses external market conditions with hiring manager, such as compensation, relocation, etc. to assist in the decision process
•    Build and maintain strong relationships with top-tier universities, schools, and target student groups
•    Plan and execute on-campus and in-house events for students, including delivering company presentations
•    Plan and execute internship program activities as assigned

Preferred Qualifications

•    Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred
•    2-4+ years of recruiting experience, preferably in a company within engineering or construction industry
•    Knowledge of college recruiting best practices, trends, and processes
•    A clear, polished communicator with exceptional written and verbal skills
•    A team player with a proactive and solutions-oriented mindset
•    Self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced environment, able to balance competing priorities with strong follow-through
•    Passionate about leveraging data to shape recruiting strategies and decisions
•    Eager to understand how campus recruiting impacts the broader business and excited about shaping early talent pipelines
•    Willing to travel for recruiting events

Minimum Qualifications

• 2+ years related HR experience.
• All applicants must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (if selected) which may include any/all of the following: criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search, in compliance with any applicable laws and regulations.

Work Environment/Physical Demands

Hybrid or flexible work options may be offered after the first 90 days of employment based upon manager discretion, job performance and work assignments.
