Job Description Summary The Project Manager at the Center for Applied Communications and Networks coordinates multiple technical projects related to research, development, testing, and evaluation of network technologies and communications systems. The role is involved from initial proposal development through project completion and final reporting. Typical activities include tracking project milestones and expenses, coordinating activities and events, collaborating with stakeholders, organizing meetings and summarizing meeting outcomes, generating reports, and generally supporting successful project execution. The Project Manager works closely with faculty, researchers, and industry partners to ensure on‑time, on‑budget project results. Responsibilities Proposal Development Coordination and Support (15%) Consult with partner organizations and update team members on policy, procedure, and due‑date changes. Facilitate proposal development meetings, tracking action items and decisions, and preparing and disseminating minutes. Assist the proposal team in tracking the status of specific requirements from the funding agency, such as forms or deliverables. Track submission deadlines and manage the submission process, establishing intermediate deadlines to ensure timely completion and submission of proposals. Project Management (65%) Manage multiple projects simultaneously, collaborating with center leadership, project teams, sponsors, and stakeholders. Maintain the project tracking system(s)/platform(s) to ensure accurate and current status information. Facilitate project kickoff, status, and closeout meetings, tracking action items and decisions, and preparing and disseminating minutes. Assist the project team in identifying and tracking project scope, deliverables, resource requirements, budgets, risks, and mitigation plans. Monitor project budgets and prepare financial reports. Compile status and performance data to create project reports, executive summaries, and presentations. Help develop project tracking and implementation protocols and procedures. Coordinate and support secure document storage and access protocols. Event Coordination (5%) Support a variety of event sizes and types, from executive briefings to symposiums and joint demonstration and testing events with hundreds of attendees. Coordinate registration, logistics, communications, materials, and personnel. Training and Development (5%) Stay abreast of emerging technologies and best practices in the center’s areas of interest. Participate in SRS Training for Certified Research Administrator sessions. Engage in professional development, especially leadership, industry acumen, and project/program management. Supervision & Training (5%) Lead, motivate, develop, and coach graduate assistants and student workers. Model ethical and performance standards. Other Duties (10%) Perform other duties as assigned. Education and Experience Bachelor’s degree in Project Management, Computer Science, Management, Information Systems, Accounting, or a related field. Six years of experience managing large‑scale, IT‑related projects, including waterfall and Agile methodologies. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Manage multiple large projects, tracking deliverables, agreements, budgets, schedules, reporting, and communications with stakeholders. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with multiple teams, sponsors, and stakeholders. Familiarity with technology evaluation processes and research methodologies. Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, SharePoint). Proficiency with project management tools (e.g., Jira, ClickUp, MS Planner, MS Project). Produce concise reports, correspondence, presentations, and other written materials. Detail‑oriented, critical thinker with strong analytical, planning, organizational, problem‑solving, and time‑management skills. Physical ability to sit or stand for extended periods, see, hear, talk, walk, climb stairs, and lift moderate weight. Work will be primarily in an environmentally controlled office space; occasional outdoor activities may occur with variable weather conditions. Frequent travel around TAMU and RELLIS campuses; occasional travel to other campuses, partner locations, events, and symposia. Occasional work outside normal office hours, such as event preparation or hosting. Multi‑task and collaborate effectively with others. Preferred Qualifications Project management certifications such as PMP, Agile Scrum Master, Lean Fundamentals, Six Sigma Green Belt, or similar. Experience managing IT‑related projects (communications systems, networks, computing). Master’s degree in a related field. Proficiency in TAMU System business applications (e.g., Maestro, Workday, Concur, Canopy, AggieBuy). Event management experience (meetings, conferences, exercises, group test events, field test events, demonstrations). Other Requirements Sit or stand for extended periods. Communicate effectively (verbally and non‑verbally). Navigate stairs and move throughout various work environments. Lift and carry items up to a moderate weight.
