About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse - MedSurg/Tele Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: MedSurg/Tele Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-hour Night Shift Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: Minimum 18 months Med/Tele RN experience required License: RN Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Basic Med/Tele skillset including cardiac rhythm interpretation. Experience with non-titrating cardiac drips such as Cardizem and Amiodarone. Wound care and drain/tube management skills. PIV starts and central line management experience. Description: The role involves providing care for patients on a MedSurg/Tele unit. The average census is 28 patients with a maximum of 32 beds. Patient types include total joint replacements, colon resections, gallbladder surgeries, appendectomies, amputations, medical overflow, hip fractures, and small bowel obstructions. Nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:4-6 during the day and 1:5-6 at night. In surge staffing, ratios may increase to 1:7-8. Support within the department includes CNAs for vital signs, baths, mobility, turning, and blood sugars. A receptionist will assist with rounds and secretarial duties. Charge nurses are available to assist with all nursing care. Phlebotomy services are provided besides nurse draws. Telemetry monitoring and tech support are available 24/7. Floating may be required to other facilities within region and scope of practice. Travelers will be compensated for travel time when floating mid-shift. Scheduling includes a weekend rotation every other week. Possibility of low census call with the requirement to work 75% of holidays. Requests for time off can be approved for up to 6 days, excluding holidays. It is essential to add time to the end of the contract if unable to meet contracted hours. Shift times are from 0645 to 1900 and 1845 to 0700 with a schedule cycle every 6 weeks. Scrub color expected is navy.
