CNC Machinist / Operator (Mill)

Location: Rochester, NY

Pay Range: $24-$28/hour TEMP-TO-HIRE

Schedule: Monday – Friday | 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM (Full-time)

Position Summary

Nesco Resource Staffing is seeking a dependable and detail-oriented CNC Machinist / CNC Machine Operator to join one of our clients. This position is responsible for operating CNC milling machines to produce high-quality precision components while meeting production, quality, and safety standards. The ideal candidate will have experience operating CNC mills in a manufacturing environment. Experience performing CNC machine setups is highly preferred.

Primary Responsibilities

• Operate CNC milling machines to manufacture precision components according to engineering drawings and specifications.
• Load and unload raw materials and finished parts.
• Perform machine setups, tool changes, and fixture changes (preferred experience).
• Read and interpret blueprints, work instructions, and job travelers.
• Verify dimensions using precision measuring instruments including calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and gauges.
• Monitor machine performance & make minor offset adjustments as needed to maintain quality.
• Inspect parts throughout machining process to ensure specs and tolerances are met.
• Deburr, clean, and prepare finished parts for the next stage of production.
• Replace cutting tools and monitor tool wear.
• Maintain production records and quality documentation.
• Perform routine machine maintenance including cleaning and lubrication.
• Keep work area organized and maintain a safe working environment.
• Follow all company safety procedures and quality standards.
• Work closely with supervisors and team members to meet daily production goals.

Qualifications

• Previous CNC machining or CNC machine operating experience required.
• Experience operating CNC vertical or horizontal milling machines.
• CNC machine setup experience is highly preferred.
• Ability to read blueprints and mechanical drawings.
• Experience using precision measuring equipment.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Reliable attendance and strong work ethic.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with Fanuc or Haas CNC controls.
• Knowledge of machining tolerances and geometric dimensions.
• Understanding of tooling, fixtures, and cutting tools.
• Lean manufacturing or continuous improvement experience is a plus.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand for extended periods.
• Bend, reach, stoop, and perform repetitive motions throughout the shift.
• Manual dexterity required to operate machinery and measuring equipment.
