Date: Jun 5, 2026 Location: Richmond, TX, 2100 Preston Job Overview Registered Therapist II – LPTA, works in the Physical Therapy Department at the Richmond State Supported Living Center. The role supports individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities who are medically fragile or have behavioral challenges. The position involves carrying out treatment programs, monitoring therapy activities, and documenting services under the guidance of licensed therapists. Essential Job Functions Attends work on a regular basis, following a scheduled or rotating shift with possible overtime. Assists in habilitation testing, programming, and reporting of clinical services. Administers individualized habilitation program plans. Implements treatment protocols to treat, improve, or maintain consumers’ level of function. Interviews individuals/staff and renders therapeutic treatments to consumers. Assists in orthopedic equipment production, maintenance, and repair programs. Participates in conferences for treatment planning. Performs training programs for both consumers and staff. Participates in quality assurance and quality enhancement activities related to therapeutic services at the local level. Participates in student internships or other educational/programs. Supervises the work of others. Engages in disaster response and/or recovery or Continuity of Operations (COOP) activation as needed. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Knowledge of evaluation, design, and fabrication of assistive/orthotic/mobility or communication equipment. Ability to learn and practice good team interaction and management skills. Ability to interact with individuals Living at the State Supported Living Center in a manner that fosters dignity, trust, and confidence. Ability to demonstrate appropriate written, oral, and nonverbal communication with residents, families, staff, and the public. Ability to teach team members selected treatment and functional activities, including equipment in‑services and PNMP procedures. Ability to implement therapeutic programs and modify treatment within licensure requirements. Registrations, Licensure Requirements or Certifications Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant (COTA) or Licensed Physical Therapy Assistant (LPTA) or Speech Therapy Assistant, practicing in Texas. Initial Screening Criteria Associate of Applied Science (AAS) or Associate of Science (AS) degree. Experience working with people with intellectual and developmental disabilities is preferred. Additional Information Applicants must pass a fingerprint criminal background check, pre‑employment drug screen, and registry checks including CANRS, Nurse Aide, Medication Aide, Employee Misconduct and LEIE.
