Role Description Concert Group is entering an exciting phase of rapid growth, and we’re seeking a highly capable, hands‑on Assistant Controller to support and strengthen our accounting and financial reporting function. This role will be a key member of the finance team, helping to ensure the integrity of the company’s financial information, oversee core accounting activities, and build scalable processes that support continued business growth, while directly managing two Staff Accountants. In this role, you will support the month‑end, quarter‑end, and year‑end close processes; help ensure timely and accurate GAAP and statutory financial reporting; maintain a strong internal control environment; and partner closely with finance leadership to deliver meaningful financial insights. The Assistant Controller will also play an important role in managing audits, supporting budgeting and forecasting, driving process improvements, and enhancing systems and tools in a dynamic, high‑growth environment. Key Responsibilities Lead day‑to‑day accounting operations, including general ledger oversight, journal entry review, account reconciliations, and execution of month‑end, quarter‑end, and year‑end close activities. Own the accuracy and completeness of balance sheet and income statement accounts, ensuring timely resolution of reconciling items and compliance with company accounting policies. Support GAAP and statutory reporting by preparing and reviewing schedules, journal entries, and supporting analyses for financial statements, regulatory filings, and audit requests. Oversee insurance‑specific accounting activities, including premium, loss, commission, and reinsurance‑related accounting, in coordination with actuarial, underwriting, and operations teams. Strengthen and maintain internal controls by documenting processes, reviewing key account analyses, and driving consistency across accounting workflows in a high‑growth environment. Coordinate with auditors and regulators by preparing schedules, responding to requests, and helping ensure successful completion of audits and examinations. Partner with the Controller to implement process improvements, enhance reporting efficiency, and support finance systems optimization, automation, and scalability. Review intercompany activity, accruals, prepaid expenses, fixed assets, and other core accounting areas to ensure proper recording and accurate period‑end results. Collaborate cross‑functionally to ensure the financial impact of operational activity, new programs, and complex transactions is properly evaluated, recorded, and communicated. Manage, mentor, and develop two Staff Accountants by assigning work, reviewing deliverables, coaching performance, and helping build a strong, accountable accounting team. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required. 7+ years of progressive accounting and financial reporting experience, preferably within insurance or financial services. Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and statutory accounting principles, with experience supporting financial statement preparation and regulatory reporting. Experience supporting close processes, internal controls, audits, and core accounting operations in a fast‑paced environment. Prior experience supervising accounting staff, with the ability to manage workloads, review work product, and support team development. Advanced Excel skills and experience with ERP systems and financial reporting tools; systems implementation or optimization experience is a plus. Strong analytical, organizational, and problem‑solving skills, with attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.
