Travel Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA)

We are seeking a compassionate and motivated Travel Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to provide rehabilitative care under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist. The COTA will implement individualized treatment plans, assist patients in improving functional independence, and help restore daily living skills while delivering high-quality care across a variety of healthcare settings.

Key Responsibilities:

• Implement treatment plans developed by the supervising Occupational Therapist.
• Provide therapeutic activities to improve strength, coordination, balance, fine motor skills, and functional mobility.
• Assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs) and instrumental activities of daily living (IADLs).
• Monitor patient progress and report treatment responses to the supervising Occupational Therapist.
• Educate patients and caregivers on home exercise programs, adaptive equipment, and safety techniques.
• Maintain accurate treatment documentation in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
• Prepare treatment areas and maintain therapy equipment in a safe and organized condition.
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, physical therapists, speech-language pathologists, case managers, and other healthcare professionals.
• Ensure compliance with infection prevention protocols, HIPAA regulations, patient safety standards, and facility policies.
• Adapt quickly to new clinical environments while maintaining high standards of patient care.

Required Qualifications:

• Associate degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program.
• Active Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) certification through NBCOT.
• Active Occupational Therapy Assistant license in the state of practice.
• Current BLS certification required.
• Minimum 1 year of recent Occupational Therapy Assistant experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of rehabilitation techniques, ADL training, therapeutic exercises, and patient mobility.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
• Experience with Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems preferred.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Previous travel healthcare experience preferred.
• Experience in acute care, inpatient rehabilitation, outpatient therapy, skilled nursing facilities (SNF), home health, or long-term care settings.
• Experience treating orthopedic, neurological, post-surgical, geriatric, or pediatric patients.
• Ability to adapt quickly to new facilities and interdisciplinary teams.
• Commitment to delivering compassionate, patient-centered care.
