Our client is a successful, growing property management and real estate firm in Chicago, Illinois. We are seeking a dynamic, positive, and results-focused Property Operations Manager to lead our Operations function and team.

This unique remote work opportunity reports to the company’s owner and blends operational excellence with entrepreneurial thinking. The role manages property operations for nearly 300 properties and plays a key role in shaping business strategy. As part of the leadership team, you will contribute directly to company operations while supporting a dedicated team of professionals.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

• Team Oversight: Lead daily property management operations to ensure all operational tasks and goals are executed effectively.
• Team Leadership: Manage and mentor a team of 6 U.S. and international members, including leasing specialists, maintenance support, and administrative staff. Foster and maintain positive, professional, effective working relationships with team members, clients, tenants, and partners
• Team Communication: Lead daily team huddles and weekly performance/strategy meetings to align on goals and foster collaboration.
• Leasing Oversight: Supervise the full leasing lifecycle—including new leases and renewals—to maximize occupancy and revenue.
• Maintenance Management: Manage maintenance operations with the support of the Maintenance Coordinator; review and process in-house maintenance billing.
• Financial Oversight: Monitor rent collection, accounts payable/receivable (AP/AR), and owner distributions to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
• Turnover Coordination: Manage unit turnover processes to minimize vacancy timelines and ensure rental readiness.
• Workflow Management: Oversee HubSpot workflows and tasks to keep the team aligned with operational priorities.
• Issue Resolution: Field and resolve escalated resident or owner issues with a calm, solutions-oriented approach.
• Operations Leadership: Collaborate with the owner to cultivate a culture of accountability, winning, and fun while streamlining company vision. Suggest and implement ways to improve workflow and efficiency.
• Software Proficiency: Actively utilize HubSpot, Aptly, AppFolio, Property Meld, ShowMojo and Findigs.
• Professional Standards: Professionally handle and maintain confidential information and ethical standards.

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS INCLUDE:

• Experience: 2+ years of proven experience in overseeing a large residential property management portfolio. Knowledge of residential repairs and maintenance.
• Leadership: Proven experience managing distributed, remote, or international teams.
• Tech-Savvy: Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and modern property management software (AppFolio, Aptly), CRM’s (HubSpot), Property Meld, ShowMojo and Findigs.
• Communication: Excellent verbal, phone, written and interpersonal communication skills.

• Work Logistics: Highly productive working remotely with a dedicated remote workspace. Reliable transportation for periodic local Chicago-area travel.
• Education and Licensure: High School Diploma or higher or equivalent combination of education and experience. An active Real Estate Broker License in the state of Illinois is desirable.
• Work Authorization: Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required. The company will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job.

POSITION LOCATION AND TRAVEL:
Remote role in the greater Chicago, Illinois metro area or U.S. Central Time Zone. Will occasionally travel to visit clients in the Chicago metro area.

Local, qualified Chicago metro area and candidates residing in the U.S. Central Time Zone will be given preference and priority. Qualified candidates from outside these geographic areas who are willing to work in U.S. Central Time Zone work hours will also be considered.

TEAM RESPONSIBILITY:

Serve as a key member of the client's residential property operations team. Collaborate with internal team members, clients and vendor partners. Manage, mentor and develop team members.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS INFORMATION:

• Salary Range: $75,000 - $85,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications
