University Student Union California State University, Northridge Student Assistant Employee Job Description Under the supervision of the Facility Operations Coordinator and the Student Operations Assistant, the Student Building Manager is responsible for supporting the daily operations at the Student Recreation Center (SRC), including assisting with operational, safety, and customer service needs while ensuring facility policies and procedures are followed. Job duties include: Opening and closing the SRC building and field while maintaining general facility security Supporting and monitoring daily activities and events occurring in the SRC Interpreting and enforcing University Student Union (USU) and SRC policies and procedures Serving as a resource to students, faculty, staff, and vendors Providing direction to the Student Operations Services Assistants regarding preparation and setup of activity rooms Responding appropriately to a variety of emergency situations, including but not limited to medical emergencies, fire, civil disturbances and acts of nature, and coordinating and/or executing emergency procedures as needed Generating detailed written reports documenting shift activities, accidents, incidents, and unusual situations Inspecting and maintaining furniture, recreation equipment, and audio-visual equipment while assisting with inventory tracking Executing proper setup and breakdown of recreation and audio-visual equipment Operating minor to mid-level audio visual equipment such as: 2-20 channel mixers, amplifiers, monitors and speakers Hard-wired and wireless microphones, lapel microphones, etc. Overhead projectors and data projectors, portable screens, TV monitors, etc. Assisting event sponsors with facility use and serve as a point of contact during events Monitoring and maintaining facility and equipment cleanliness including but not limited to trash pick-up, graffiti removal, spot cleaning, etc. Performing minor repairs on tables, chairs, and recreational equipment as needed Identifying and reporting facility maintenance needs and submit work orders Facilitating SRC field access and equipment rentals using Fusion software Creating and delivering presentations as directed Executing a variety of facility-related projects as assigned Performing other related duties as assigned Qualifications: Education: Must be a currently enrolled CSUN student Experience and Certifications: Previous related experience and/or specialized education required American Red Cross or department approved First Aid, CPR, and AED certification shall be obtained within 30 days. Training is periodically offered free of charge by the USU. Applicants unable to attend USU-sponsored training are required to obtain certification at their own expense Other requirements: Must be available to work a minimum of 10/hours/week based on the operational needs and working hours of the department Must be able to attend mandatory in-person SRC and USU employee orientation and trainings This position is a sensitive position as designated by the CSU. Supervision is provided by the Facility Operations Coordinator and the Student Operations Assistant. Typical working conditions: Work is typically performed both in indoor and outdoor environments in possible inclement weather conditions. Daily contact with members of the campus community, including students, faculty, staff, administrators and guests, is required. In addition to regularly assigned work schedule, must possess an ability and willingness to work weekends, evenings, holidays, finals weeks, and during academic interim and break periods; must be flexible, adaptable, and readily able to adjust to changes in work environment.
