Facilities Maintenance Technician Location: Bowling Green, Kentucky, United States | Brand: Bendix | Requisition ID: 10521 | Job Grade: 11 | On-site/Remote: On-site Job Description The Facilities Department is responsible for repairs, maintenance, and modifications to the site, building, and production support systems (e.g., HVAC, electricity, compressed air, plumbing, etc.). Tasks are assigned via the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) and completed by the in‑house technician alone or with a team or contractor. Upon assignment of a repair, the technician performs root‑cause analysis, makes immediate repairs, and develops countermeasures to prevent future failures. Parts are sourced from the on‑site inventory or researched externally. The technician schedules work, completes work orders, and documents all labor, parts, and materials in the CMMS. For preventive maintenance activities, the technician reviews the job plan, gathers tools and materials, adheres to safety plans, tests machines or systems, replaces panels and fasteners, cleans the work area, returns tools, and logs activities in the CMMS. When assigned a modification, the technician assists the designer across data gathering, part selection, piping layout, planning, scheduling, and other tasks as required. The technician reports observations and recommends improvements to job plans, inventory, tools, communication, and planning. Analysis of failure frequency or modes may be required. Essential Duties Use the CMMS to receive work assignments, look up parts and tools, and record readings and conditions. Execute autonomous maintenance walks using checklists and report anomalies. Provide and utilize hand tools to complete repairs, maintenance, and modifications. Maintain organized work areas and apply 5S principles. Perform repairs and maintenance with minimal operational disruption. Conduct root‑cause analysis to determine repairs and countermeasures. Complete required trainings on schedule. Participate in department and training meetings. Qualifications Possess basic hand tools and a portable case or bag; large tools provided by Bendix. Fluent in English, including reading, writing, and speaking. Proficient in basic math and arithmetic. High‑school diploma or equivalent; preference for technical degree in engineering, physics, mathematics, etc. Understand and be able to teach the refrigeration cycle. Current Universal‑level license to procure and handle chlorinated fluorocarbon refrigerants. Read and understand wiring schematics and diagrams. Experience in industrial facilities maintenance involving HVAC, pneumatics, hydraulics, electrical, and controls. Knowledge of a CMMS, preferably SAP‑Plant Maintenance Module. Use of the internet to research maintenance needs. Basic Microsoft Excel and Outlook skills. Familiarity with root‑cause analysis tools such as 5 Whys. A self‑starter with high quality and performance values. Willingness to work on all assignments from restroom to roof. Physical Requirements The role requires frequent standing, walking, talking, hearing, using hands or fingers, stooping, reaching, and tasting or smelling. Job activities include lifting up to 10 pounds, 25 pounds, 50 pounds, 100 pounds, and more than 100 pounds as needed. Vision requirements: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
