SUMMARY OF POSITION:

Responsible for performing venipuncture, patient registrations into hospital registration system, accessioning laboratory physicians orders into the laboratory information system, assuring proper handling of patient specimens, assuring accuracy of patient identification demographic and verifying insurance information. Maintain knowledge of regulations applicable to the lab and hospital to maintain constant compliance.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

High school diploma plus 6 months experience in Phlebotomy required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:

Good written and oral communications skills required.

Good customer services skills required.

Good computer skills required.

Knowledge of first aid required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Medical Assistant experience or clerical experience in a medical setting preferred.

Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
