Assistant Men's & Women's Track & Field Coach - Jumps/Multi's (COACH AST 3)

Job Summary Under the general direction of the Director of Track & Field and Cross Country, assist in all aspects of a NCAA Division I men's & women's track & field program including student recruitment, scheduling, team travel, scouting opponents, practice planning, assisting with the administration of summer camps and clinics, and administration of the men's & women's track & field program in full compliance with NCAA and university rules and regulations. Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university. Three (3) years of successful NCAA Division I collegiate coaching experience in the sport of track & field. Knowledge of NCAA jumping events (long jump, triple jump, high jump, and pole vault). Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations. Knowledge of the rules and strategies of track & field. This includes, but is not limited to, teaching techniques, coaching strategies and safety measures that are necessary for the UC Davis student-athlete to compete at the collegiate level. Skills to interact effectively and establish cooperative working relationships with UC Davis student-athletes, coaching colleagues, department staff and other persons from diverse backgrounds including parents, fans, boosters, members of the media and officials associated with the sport. Preferred Qualifications Master’s degree from an accredited college or university. Knowledge in programming for multi events. Ability to learn the complex policies and procedures regarding academic eligibility of UC Davis student-athletes. These include UC Davis, Mountain West Conference and the National Collegiate Athletic Association policies and procedures. Key Responsibilities 70% - Coaching 30% - Recruiting Department Overview Assist the supervisor in all aspects of an NCAA Division I men's & women's track & field program including student recruitment, scheduling, team travel, scouting opponents, practice planning, assisting with the administration of summer camps, and administration of the men's & women's track & field program in full compliance with NCAA and university rules and regulations.
