Maintenance E&I Technician

Maintenance Electrical & Instrumentation Technician Location: Gastonia, NC, 28056 | Job Type: Full-Time / On‑Site | Date Posted: May 13, 2026 Overview As part of an advanced chemical manufacturing facility, you will perform predictive and preventive maintenance, troubleshoot, repair and install electrical and instrumentation equipment. Your work directly impacts the safety and reliability of our operating plant. Responsibilities Safely maintain and repair service entrance & distribution equipment. Safely maintain and repair 480V backup generators and automatic transfer switches (ATS). Safely maintain and repair motor control centers (MCCs) and AC induction motors. Troubleshoot and repair motor starters and variable frequency drives (VFDs). Safely maintain and repair circuit breakers, fuses, and other disconnects. Provide troubleshooting and repair for electrical transformers (Wye‑Wye, Delta‑Wye). Maintain and repair power panels & wiring for three‑phase 480V, 208V and single‑phase 220V, 120V. Design and troubleshoot control circuits, disconnects, switches, etc. Install conduit (rigid, flex, EMT, PVC) and perform wire pulling; demonstrate understanding of electrical classifications for hazardous areas/industrial facilities. Work with distributed control systems (DCS) such as Emerson DeltaV and ABB System Six, and programmable logic controllers (PLC) such as Allen Bradley. Calibrate and maintain analog and discrete instrumentation and possess knowledge in control wiring, terminal blocks, and low‑voltage fusing. Required Qualifications High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED). Ability to work safely both independently and as part of a team, following all procedures. Proficiency reading and interpreting electrical codes (NEC), building codes (IBC), and engineering standards. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook). Strong organizational skills and self‑motivation. Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to give and receive constructive feedback. Strong mechanical skills and ability to use a variety of hand and power tools. Ability to follow departmental practices, procedures, and safety guidelines. Ability to read, understand and interpret wiring diagrams, motor elementary drawings, and loop sheets. Preferred Qualifications Associate’s degree, or formal certification in electrical, control or related disciplines. NC Electrical Contractor’s License (Limited, Intermediate, Unlimited, or Special Restricted). 10+ years of industrial maintenance experience. Proficiency with SAP maintenance and business software. Experience with infrared (IR) thermography for electrical equipment. Experience with airborne ultrasonic inspection of electrical equipment. Proficiency with laser alignment of rotating equipment. Work Environment Standing, walking, or operating equipment for extended periods. Working in a lab or manufacturing setting with appropriate PPE. Use of computers and digital tools in an office or hybrid environment. Occasional lifting or movement of materials. Adherence to rigorous safety protocols and ergonomic standards.
