We are seeking a hands-on Assistant General Manager to support the daily operations of a growing bakery-café in Springfield, VA. This role will focus primarily on Front-of-House leadership , team development, guest experience, and overall café execution.

The ideal candidate is an experienced restaurant or café leader who can confidently manage a fast-paced operation, support multiple teams, and maintain high standards for service, quality, and cleanliness.

 

Key Responsibilities

• Support the General Manager with day-to-day café operations .
• Lead and develop the Front-of-House team , ensuring strong service and guest satisfaction.
• Direct daily shifts and provide clear expectations, coaching, and accountability.
• Ensure consistent execution of service, food quality, cleanliness, and operational standards .
• Assist with staffing, scheduling, training, and employee development.
• Monitor sales, labor, inventory, and other key operational metrics.
• Partner with BOH leadership to ensure smooth coordination between FOH, bakery, sandwich, and cake production teams .
• Address operational issues proactively and make decisions during busy service periods.
• Help build a strong, reliable management team and positive workplace culture.
• Maintain a visible leadership presence during opening, peak, and closing shifts.

 

Ideal Candidate Profile

• Previous Assistant Manager, AGM, Café Manager, Restaurant Manager, or comparable leadership experience .
• Experience in bakery-café, café, fast-casual, QSR, or high-volume restaurant operations preferred.
• Strong FOH leadership and guest-service experience.
• Proven ability to lead teams, coach employees, and hold staff accountable .
• Highly organized and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
• Hands-on leader who is comfortable working alongside the team.
• Flexible availability for opening, mid, and closing shifts based on business needs.
• Reliable, professional, and committed to developing a long-term career in restaurant operations.
