Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a PCU Float position requiring telemetry expertise and both KS and MO or compact RN licensure for facility-wide floating.

Details

• Float role within the Progressive Care Unit (PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown), with additional experience in MS/Tele, Cardiac Telemetry, ER Holding, and Neuro Stepdown settings
• 13-week assignment on night shift, 3x12 hours (18:45-7:15)
• Patient ratio of 1:5
• Requires 8 weekend shifts within Saint Luke's 6-week schedule period, a combination of Friday/Saturday/Sunday
• Holiday shift coverage and Charge RN assignments as needed per unit
• Epic EMR experience preferred
• Will float within scope to all MSI units, including the ED to care for inpatient holds
• No on-call responsibilities
• No block scheduling accommodations available

Requirements

• Active RN license in Kansas and Missouri, or a compact license, required in hand at time of consideration
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
• Minimum 2 years of recent PCU/telemetry specialty experience required, with a full year within the past 12 months and no employment gap greater than 90 days
• Previous Charge RN and Teaching Hospital experience preferred
• Skilled in cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation/management, telemetry (unit and remote), and Rapid Response Team utilization
• Experience in cardiovascular care including pre/post cardiac cath, cardiac surgery, angiogram, and post-MI management
• Proficient in IV therapy including central line, PICC line, and peripheral line care, blood product administration, and phlebotomy
• Experience managing cardiac drips, heparin protocols, PCA, and procedural sedation administration
• Respiratory skills required including chest tube management, BiPAP/CPAP, HFNC, tracheostomy care, and non-invasive airway management
• Experience with wound care/wound vac and isolation precautions/PPE
• Experience with IV insulin protocols, feeding tube management, and pre/post hemodialysis care
• Experience with peripheral nerve block catheters and total joint replacement care preferred
• Port accessing/management and chemotherapy monitoring experience preferred
• Two professional references required, one from a supervisor and one from a charge RN, both from within the past year

Additional Information

• Provide comprehensive PCU-level nursing care across multiple specialty units and may assist with inpatient holds in the ED
• Must reside at least 75 miles from the facility to be considered, as local candidates are not accepted
• Maximum of 7 days RTO permitted, which must be finalized at time of consideration with no additional requests after offer
• Travel partners are not accepted for this assignment
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Compliance documentation is due two Fridays before the start date, with required training modules completed prior to start
• EPIC training module or test-out option required prior to start, along with infusion pump and glucometer training
• Returning staff must meet a tenure policy of 18 months with a 3-month break in service, and former permanent employees must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
