Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Step Down Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours (19:00 - 07:30) Experience: Minimum 2 years at the bedside within the last 6 months License: MO or compact license required Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS Must-Have: - Titration of vasopressors - Management of sedation medication - Insulin drips - Trach vents - Arterial lines - External pacemakers - Chest tubes Description: The position is for a Registered Nurse in a Step Down Unit. Nurse-patient ratios are 1:4. The unit provides acute medical care and functions as a step-down from Intensive Care. Candidates are expected to have experience with high-acuity patients. Must be comfortable with various medical procedures, including but not limited to titration of vasopressors and management of chest tubes. Experience dealing with cardiac arrhythmias is essential. Nurses will be floating to lower acuity floors as required. This position requires 2 shifts every other weekend. Applicants must submit to a compliance process that requires appropriate certifications. The role involves interdisciplinary support from physical therapy, respiratory services, and social services. Daily census averages around 25 patients, with a unit capacity of 29 beds. Strong skills in telemetry and critical care nursing are necessary. The ability to work collaboratively with a healthcare team is essential. Travel experience is preferred but not mandatory. Candidates should be prepared for a fast-paced and dynamic work environment.
