Occupational Therapist

The Pediatric Occupational Therapist is responsible for the assessment, treatment, and management of children with developmental, physical, sensory, cognitive, and functional challenges that impact participation in everyday activities. The Occupational Therapist evaluates, develops, and implements individualized treatment plans to maximize each child's independence, participation, and quality of life while collaborating with patients, families, and an interdisciplinary team to achieve meaningful outcomes. The Occupational Therapist is responsible for following departmental procedures, maintaining professional standards, and supervising Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants (COTAs) in accordance with Oklahoma licensure requirements. This position also participates in the orientation, training, and mentorship of student interns and new employees while engaging in professional development activities that enhance patient care and departmental performance. Job Requirements Master\'s or Doctoral Degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program. Current Oklahoma Occupational Therapy license in good standing. Pediatric experience preferred. Knowledge of current evidence-based practices and scientifically supported treatment approaches for pediatric occupational therapy. Expertise in standardized assessments and intervention strategies for children with developmental, neurological, orthopedic, sensory, and functional needs. Experience treating fine motor, visual motor, sensory processing, self-care (ADLs), executive functioning, handwriting, feeding (if applicable), and functional life skills. Familiarity with EMR and documentation systems for therapy services. Strong communication, interpersonal, and family education skills. Passion for serving children and families through compassionate, family-centered care. Clinical Responsibilities Perform comprehensive evaluations, re-evaluations, progress reports, and discharge planning. Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on each child\'s unique strengths, abilities, and goals. Provide evidence-based occupational therapy interventions to improve fine motor skills, visual motor integration, sensory processing, self-care skills, self-regulation, executive functioning, handwriting, feeding (if applicable), play skills, and participation in daily routines. Collaborate closely with Physical Therapists, Speech-Language Pathologists, ABA providers, physicians, educators, caregivers, and other professionals to provide coordinated, interdisciplinary care. Provide caregiver education, home programs, and recommendations that promote carryover of therapy goals into everyday environments. Supervise and delegate responsibilities to Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants (COTAs) in accordance with Oklahoma licensure rules and regulations. Delegate responsibilities to occupational therapy students as appropriate while providing mentorship and clinical education. Make appropriate recommendations and referrals to specialists or community resources when indicated. Attend interdisciplinary team meetings and actively participate in collaborative treatment planning. Meet established productivity expectations while maintaining exceptional quality of care. Complete accurate, timely, and compliant documentation in accordance with departmental policies, payer requirements, state and federal regulations, and professional standards. Follow Soaring on Hope policies, procedures, ethical standards, and best clinical practices. Foster a welcoming, encouraging, and family-centered therapy environment that supports each child\'s success. Program Responsibilities Participate in community presentations, educational events, open houses, and outreach activities that promote Soaring on Hope\'s mission. Build positive relationships with physicians, schools, community organizations, and referral partners. Become actively involved in professional organizations and pursue continuing education opportunities to remain current with best practices. Participate in departmental quality improvement initiatives and help identify opportunities to enhance patient care, clinical outcomes, and operational excellence. Assist with the orientation and mentoring of new team members and student interns. Contribute to a positive, collaborative workplace culture by supporting teammates, embracing feedback, and promoting innovation and continuous improvement.
