Registered Nurse - Medical Surgical

Role Overview The Registered Nurse provides comprehensive nursing care during hospital stays, assessing patients, developing and evaluating individualized care plans, and coordinating with healthcare team members. Key Responsibilities Conducts thorough assessments, documents findings, and reassesses patient status. Develops evidence-based care plans aligned with diagnoses, lab data, and physician orders. Implements and documents nursing interventions, administers medications, monitors IV fluids, and coordinates referrals. Communicates patient needs effectively, provides patient and family education, and ensures discharge planning. Recognizes changes in patient condition, responds appropriately, and involves families in decision-making. Provides specialized high-risk care, manages restraints and pain, and identifies abuse signs. Professional Practice Demonstrates accountability by adhering to quality standards, maintaining current knowledge, and supporting professional development. Collaborates with team members, mentors new staff, and promotes a positive, respectful work environment. Ensures safety and infection control compliance, practicing standard precautions and reporting risks. Patient Service & Improvement Delivers courteous, respectful care, maintains confidentiality, and advocates for patient needs. Participates in performance improvement initiatives, evidence-based practice, and research activities. Provides age-appropriate care, manages resources efficiently, and supports hospital values. Qualifications & Skills Valid RN license in applicable states, BLS certification, excellent communication, teamwork, and critical thinking skills. Physical ability for patient care tasks is required.
