The candidate at minimum must have the following:

Option 1:

• 12 months experience as and Unemployment Insurance Supervisor

OR

Option 2:

• 36 months experience or training in government laws rules regulations &/or procedures governing unemployment insurance

• AND 12 months experience in supervisory principles/techniques

OR

Option 3:

• Completion of undergraduate core program in public or business administration

• AND 12 months training or experience in government laws rules regulations &/or procedures governing unemployment insurance

• AND 12 months experience in supervisory principles/techniques

OR

Option 4:

• Equivalent of minimum class qualifications for employment noted above.

Pay Information

This position is in the State of Ohios E1 Pay Schedule Pay Range 14. Unless required by legislation or union contract starting salary will be the minimum salary of that pay range (step 1 currently $40.40per hour). These ranges provide a standardized pathway for pay increases. With continued employment new hires move to the next step in the range after 6 months and annually thereafter. Cost of Living Adjustments increase wages in these ranges each fiscal year. The current step progression wages are in the table below.

Office of Unemployment Insurance Operations

The Office of Unemployment Insurance Operations (OUIO) administers Ohios unemployment insurance program which provides short-term income to unemployed workers who lose their jobs through no fault of their own. It reduces the hardship felt by families during periods of temporary unemployment and bolsters the local economies by maintaining the purchasing power of the unemployed worker. This role leads the Unemployment Adjudication Team including its supervisors and staff. You will manage daily operations monitor performance and provide regular coaching and support.

• Run all day-to-day activities of the Adjudication Team.

• Give clear supportive leadership and feedback to supervisors and staff.

• Act as a subject-matter expert and train the team on daily tasks.

• Work with executives to improve policies and procedures.

• Develop and refine practices that improve customer service and efficiency.

• Encourage teamwork within the group and with other teams.

• Track and analyze performance metrics to find issues and improve results.

• Maintain a positive productive team culture.

• Lead a team that may work remotely in hybrid schedules or on-site ensuring consistent communication and expectations.

• Represent the agency during public speaking events.

• Support the UI Senior Manager with budgeting and solving operational issues.

Required experience includes knowledge of federal or state employment/unemployment programs with a strong preference for unemployment benefits experience. Supervisory experience or training is required and call center experience is helpful. You must be able to guide teams through change manage multiple priorities and stay calm in a fast-paced environment.

Schedule: Full-time

Hours: Standard workdays are Monday through Friday. Hours are between 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

Location: This position will be headquartered in an ODJFS Facility in one of the following cities - Columbus Akron or Dayton. This determination will take into account the proximity to the applicants home address.
