Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Emergency Department Registered Nurse (RN) to join a Critical Access Hospital serving a rural Wisconsin community. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment, possess strong clinical judgment, and deliver exceptional emergency care to patients across all age groups.

The Emergency Department RN is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care while collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to ensure positive patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive patient assessments and prioritize care based on acuity levels.
• Deliver high-quality emergency nursing care for patients with acute illnesses, injuries, and medical emergencies.
• Administer medications, treatments, and interventions in accordance with provider orders and established protocols.
• Monitor patient conditions, recognize changes in status, and respond appropriately.
• Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, and healthcare team members to coordinate care.
• Operate and monitor emergency department equipment and technology.
• Document patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately in the electronic medical record.
• Provide patient and family education regarding diagnoses, treatment plans, and discharge instructions.
• Maintain compliance with infection prevention, safety, and quality standards.
• Participate in emergency response situations and trauma care as needed.

Schedule Details

• Night Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
• 72 hours per bi-weekly pay period (0.9 FTE)
• Rotating schedule includes 2 out of every 3 weekends (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday)
• Participation in a holiday rotation is required

Requirements

Required Qualifications

• Current and active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Wisconsin or compact state eligibility.
• Current BLS certification required.
• ACLS, PALS, and TNCC certifications preferred or required per facility policy.
• Previous Emergency Department nursing experience preferred.
• Strong critical thinking, communication, and multitasking skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a rural Critical Access Hospital environment.
