We are looking for an Accounting Specialist to join a detail-oriented services team in San Antonio, Texas. This Long-term Contract position is ideal for someone who enjoys managing high-volume financial activity and keeping accounting records accurate and current. The role will contribute to daily transactional accounting, support close activities, and help maintain reliable reporting in a deadline-driven environment.

Responsibilities:
• Manage a large volume of payables and receivables while ensuring transactions are recorded correctly and completed on time.
• Examine invoices, assign appropriate expense coding, and coordinate accurate payment processing across routine accounting activities.
• Record incoming cash activity and match receipts to customer accounts to keep balances current and discrepancies minimized.
• Prepare journal entries and update general ledger records to support accurate financial reporting.
• Perform reconciliations for bank accounts, credit card activity, and balance sheet items, resolving variances as they arise.
• Assist with month-end and year-end closing tasks by organizing support, verifying balances, and completing assigned accounting entries.
• Investigate billing issues, payment differences, and account inconsistencies, then follow through on timely resolution.
• Provide additional support for payroll-related tasks, employee expense processing, and maintenance of audit-ready financial documentation.
• Adhere to established accounting controls, internal procedures, and company policies while balancing multiple deadlines with precision.• At least 1 year of experience in accounting, bookkeeping, or finance support roles.
• Hands-on background in accounts payable, accounts receivable, billing support, and account reconciliation.
• Familiarity with journal entries, general ledger activity, and core accounting principles.
• Ability to work effectively in an environment with frequent transactions and competing priorities.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience using accounting software in day-to-day operations.
• Strong organizational skills with close attention to detail and a consistent focus on accuracy.
• Clear communication skills and the ability to work through issues involving payments, billing, and account balances.
