At Lefkoff Law, LLC, we provide holistic legal services to small businesses throughout Georgia with a specific focus on the motor vehicle industry – dealers, finance, repair, repossession, scrap, and auctions.

Our Sandy Springs-based law firm is looking for that special attorney to handle cases from start to finish throughout the metro-Atlanta area, including Fulton, Gwinnett, DeKalb, and Cobb Counties, as well as the occasional matter outside the “big 4”. These cases range from low-dollar Magistrate Court matters to big-ticket State, Superior, and Federal Court cases.

Some firms have a practice-area niche. We have an industry niche. In our niche in the motor vehicle industry, we handle different practice areas. The clients we serve think of us as the legal Quarterback of their team – the ball comes to us first. If that sounds exciting, you may be the right fit.

Because clients are businesses, we look at clients’ disputes from an economic perspective, not an emotional one. If you like being a legal therapist in a divorce case, this job is not for you. If you can advise clients on the legal aspects of their matters while providing a cost-benefit analysis with that advice, we’d like to talk with you.

We are seeking a full-time Litigation Attorney to fill a salaried position. Your personal autonomy, freedom, and values are prioritized at our firm. As a Litigation Attorney, you will work hand-in-hand with the firm’s founder and firm administrator to conduct consultations, handle cases, and represent clients from open to close. This is a full-time position, which means, for us, in the range of 25-35 billable hours per week in addition to administrative time. Our compensation arrangement allows you to, in most cases, set your own schedule around your family.

The Litigation Attorney position, after a training period, will be to assume a “first chair” or “lead attorney” type role. While we believe and offer training, mentoring, and guidance, the attorney we hire needs to be able to confidently handle all aspects of client representation from initial meeting through trial.

Compensation:

$135,000+ yearly DOE

Responsibilities:

• Maintain client files in an organized fashion to ensure up-to-date information is handy for other attorneys, paralegals and support staff
• Review client issues on legal matters, analyze available options, and diligently work to determine the best course of action
• Create legal documents, including correspondence, briefs, motions, pleadings, contracts, affidavits, and settlement agreements for contract negotiations and proceedings
• Perform legal research, prepare for and attend hearings or other legal proceedings, and give general counsel under the supervision of senior associate attorneys
• Collaborate with clients and senior associates and other staff to move cases toward resolution efficiently

• Conduct trials as first chair in Magistrate, State, and Superior Courts
• Defend and conduct depositions
• Conduct legal research, prepare for and attend hearings and/or other legal proceedings, and provide legal counsel with the help of senior associate attorneys
• Work a litigation file from beginning to end
• Collaborate with clients and senior associates and other staff to move cases toward resolution efficiently
• Prepare litigation pleadings such as briefs, affidavits, motions, and settlement agreements for contract negotiations and proceedings
• Assist clients in determining a proper solution to legal conflicts and determine the best course of action
• Organize and maintain files to ensure accuracy for other attorneys, paralegals, and staff

• Utilize Clio, Slack, Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and Spark to work cases efficiently and promptly
• Draft and respond to written discovery; document review
• Log case updates in case management software
• Keep accurate hourly time

Qualifications:

• Licensed to practice law in Georgia with an active bar admission in Georgia
• 5+ years of experience in Georgia civil litigation, depositions, and trial experience preferred (1st Chair trial experience VERY preferred)
• Candidates must have passed the bar exam
• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree required from an accredited law school
• Ability to work with senior attorneys to best serve client needs and grow a client base
• Effective communication skills and problem-solving skills are necessary to work with all levels of staff and clients

• Detail-oriented
• An efficient researcher who is mindful of time being billed to the client
• Developed customer service skills (experience in a service industry preferred)
• Familiarity with civil litigation proceedings, including deadlines
• Wide-ranging knowledge of Georgia civil causes of action
• Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills
• Ability and interest in building rapport with clients

• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
• Strong legal analysis and written and oral advocacy skills
• Responsible, self-initiating with proven ability to work independently
• A demonstrated interest and passion for representing businesses and business owners
• An interest in working in a fast-paced and varied environment
• High technology aptitude
• Proficiency with Mac computers, OS X, and Microsoft Office
