Staff Accountant


LHH Recruitment Solutions is seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to support the accounting operations of a growing organization. This position will assist with month-end close, general ledger maintenance, account reconciliations, financial reporting, and other ongoing accounting activities. This position is direct hire and 100% onsite in Cincinnati Ohio. Pay for this role will range between $55K and $70K annually.



Job Duties

• Support the monthly closing process by completing assigned accounting activities accurately and within established deadlines.
• Prepare and post journal entries related to accruals, prepaid expenses, recurring transactions, and account adjustments.
• Reconcile general ledger, bank, intercompany, and balance sheet accounts on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
• Research account discrepancies and analyze differences between actual results, budgets, forecasts, and prior periods.
• Assist with preparing financial statements, supporting schedules, and internal management reports.
• Maintain complete and organized documentation for journal entries, reconciliations, and financial transactions.
• Coordinate with internal departments to collect, review, and validate accounting information.
• Track capital expenditures and construction-related costs while assisting with periodic reporting.
• Monitor cash balances, funding needs, and other routine cash management activities.
• Provide support during budgeting, forecasting, audit, and year-end reporting processes.
• Respond to accounting questions and special requests from leadership and external auditors.
• Recommend improvements that strengthen accuracy, internal controls, and accounting efficiency.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• One to three years of accounting experience, including exposure to month-end close, journal entries, and account reconciliations. Strong internship experience will be considered as well.
• Working knowledge of GAAP and general ledger accounting practices.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• High level of accuracy, organization, and attention to detail.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, lookup functions, and basic formulas.
• Experience using accounting or ERP software is preferred.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities and meet deadlines.
• Collaborative attitude with a willingness to learn and take direction.
