Sous Chef

Anna's Ristorante Pasta, Vino & Pizza is hiring a Sous Chef to join their culinary team in Smithfield, Virginia. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced kitchen professional who is passionate about Italian cuisine, team leadership, and delivering exceptional dining experiences. As Sous Chef, you'll play a key role in overseeing daily kitchen operations, supporting the culinary team during service, and maintaining the quality and consistency that guests have come to expect from Anna's. You'll help coordinate food production, manage inventory, and ensure the kitchen operates efficiently while upholding the highest standards of food safety. What You'll Do Lead daily kitchen operations and coordinate workflow across all stations Prepare and cook menu items while supporting the team during service Maintain food quality, presentation, and portion standards Supervise food preparation and kitchen production activities Monitor inventory levels and manage food ordering Minimize waste and help control food costs Ensure compliance with all food safety, sanitation, and health regulations Support a collaborative and efficient kitchen environment Help maintain an organized, clean, and well-stocked kitchen What We're Looking For 5+ years of professional culinary experience Previous kitchen leadership experience Strong knowledge of food preparation and kitchen operations Experience managing inventory and food costs Excellent organizational and communication skills Commitment to food safety and sanitation best practices High school diploma or GED preferred Flexible availability, including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays Why You'll Love Working Here Starting pay of $18+ per hour Full-time and part-time opportunities available Opportunity to work in an established Italian restaurant Hands‑on leadership role with growth potential About the Workplace Anna's Ristorante Pasta, Vino & Pizza is dedicated to serving authentic Italian cuisine in a welcoming, family‑friendly atmosphere.
