Director Of Social Services

This position is located within the Phoenix Area Indian Health Service, Whiteriver Service Unit, Social Services Department. The incumbent serves as the Director of Social Services and is responsible for the supervision, administration, and overall management of the Social Services Department. Provides leadership for social work personnel, program operations, and staff utilization.

Responsibilities include budget management, development of position descriptions, supervising staff and assigning work for the department. Provides direct and indirect patient care services that addresses the overall psychosocial needs of the patient, family, community and Service Unit programs. Provides mental health consultation and training services to staff, various community and tribal groups, agencies such as schools, law enforcement, courts and substance abuse programs, child protection agencies. Ensures staff assist with coordination of patient care through participation and collaboration with community and tribal programs.

Requirements include financial suitability, U.S. citizenship, selective service registration, and a background investigation. A one-year supervisory/managerial probationary period may be required upon selection/placement. This position works regularly assigned rotation or call back basis to provide continuity of services during evenings, nights, holidays and weekends. 24 hour on-call services are required.
