Instructional Assistant, Special Education

The job of Instructional Assistant, Special Education is done for the purpose(s) of assisting (under direct supervision) in the supervision and instruction of special education students; relieving teachers of clerical tasks, assisting students by providing and developing students adaptive and behavioral skills. Instructional Assistant, Special Education, includes positions for classes such as Autism; Deaf/Hard of Hearing; Emotionally Disturbed; Intellectual DisabilityModerate; Intellectual Disability-Severe; Orientation and Mobility; Orthopedically Impaired; and Visually Impaired. REQUIRED EXPERIENCE: Job related experience is desired REQUIRED EDUCATION: High school diploma or equivalent REQUIRED TESTING: Applications will be screened for minimum qualifications. Those who meet the minimum qualifications will be emailed an invitation for testing. Applicants with 48 or more eligible semester units earned with a grade of C or better from an accredited college or university may be eligible to forego testing by attaching transcripts for verification to their online EdJoin application prior to submitting your application. Copies of diplomas will not be accepted in lieu of transcripts.

• Copy of Transcript (Optional: In order to bypass testing, a copy of legible transcripts must be attached to your application showing successful passing of 48 or more eligible semester units from an accredited college/university. (Must attach transcripts showing grades earned - Diploma copies will not be accepted)
• Letter(s) of Recommendation (One (1) Letter of Recommendation are required and must be signed by the author. The signature block must include the author's name and title/relationship to the applicant. Letters must be dated within the last 2 years prior to the position closing date. Letters without author's signature, name and title/relationship to the applicant and letters without a date or dated more than 2 years prior to the position closing date will not be accepted. One letter from a supervisor is preferred.)
