The Director, Product Marketing leads product marketing strategy and execution for a major multi-product line business unit, with responsibility for defining and communicating the market position of our products to drive growth, differentiation, and customer preference. This position holds a key seat on the Business Unit and Marketing leadership team.

This role owns Product Positioning, turning product strategy and customer insights (VOC) into clear product value propositions, messaging, portfolio and product positioning, commercialization plans, and go-to-market strategies. The Product Marketing Director is responsible for helping drive accelerated operating and financial performance by ensuring products are positioned effectively in the market and by continuously improving commercialization processes and outcomes.

This Leader serves as the critical connection between Marketing and the Business Unit General Manager / Product Management, translating product strategy into differentiated market positioning, commercialization plans, and revenue growth.

This role leads a Product Marketing Manager and also works closely with Channel Marketing, Digital and Social Teams and Marketing Communications (Creative, Copy, and Social) to accelerate growth, strengthen competitive differentiation, and improve commercialization results across the Flow Systems portfolio.

Essential Job Responsibilities

• Lead Business Unit Product Marketing Strategy: Partner with Product Management throughout the new product development process. Lead product marketing strategy and execution for the Business Unit, ensuring alignment with business objectives, growth priorities, and customer needs.
• Define Market Positioning & Portfolio Messaging: Own the Positioning framework for the Drains portfolio, developing differentiated value propositions across customer personas, messaging frameworks, portfolio positioning, and customer-facing narratives.
• Drive Portfolio Growth & Market Expansion: Support portfolio growth by identifying market opportunities, improving market penetration, and strengthening competitive differentiation.
• Understand Market Conditions & Competitive Position: Evaluate market, customer, and competitive analysis to identify growth opportunities, emerging trends, customer needs, and market risks.
• Serve as the voice of the customer: Ensure customer needs and market feedback are reflected in positioning, commercialization plans, and portfolio decisions.
• Lead Product Commercialization & Launch Excellence: Lead development of launch positioning, messaging, sales enablement materials, competitive tools, training content, and commercialization plans for new product introductions and major portfolio initiatives.
• Enable Sales Success: Ensure Sales teams are equipped with the messaging, tools, training, and competitive insights needed to effectively position and sell Drainage solutions.
• Drive Continuous Improvement: Ensure successful definition and execution of marketing continuous improvement initiatives tied to annual strategic priorities.
• Understand and Deliver On Business Priorities: Support marketing and commercial teams in achieving strategic objectives through process improvement initiatives, workshops, and continuous improvement activities.

Additional Responsibilities:

• Measure and Communicate Business Impact: Serve as a strategic advisor to the General Manage, providing market insights, competitive intelligence, customer perspectives, and positioning recommendations that support portfolio growth and strategic priorities.
• Lead Cross-Functional Alignment: Partner closely with the three Product Management teams to align product strategy, market positioning, commercialization plans, and customer messaging.
• Develop Marketing Talent: Build up and lead a successful product marketing capability and team. Lead and develop a Product Marketing Manager, providing coaching, direction, and support to drive exceptional business and marketing outcomes.
• Collaborate with other Product Marketing Directors across other business units to promote consistency in product marketing practices, enterprise brand standards, commercialization processes, and customer engagement strategies.
• Work in close partnership with the Director of Channel Marketing, Creative, Digital, Copy and Social teams to develop integrated go-to-market strategies, campaigns, content plans, and customer experiences that support business growth objectives.

Qualifications & Capabilities:

• Bachelor's degree in marketing, business or related field is required; MBA preferred
• 15+ years of experience in strategic marketing and managing a team
• A positive influencer who thrives in a fast paced, evolving environment and is skilled and driving progress and transformative change.
• Strong ability to navigate organizational boundaries and build relationships to achieve objectives.
• Experience in managing new product development initiatives or launches required
• Strong knowledge and proven use of data access tools and advanced PC based applications (Windows, Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
• Experience managing 3P vendor and agency relationship required
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Self-starter with a sense of urgency
• Nimble and adaptable; able to succeed in fast moving environments
• Ability to problem solve and apply targeted corrections for sustained improvement

• Ability to work in a variety of environments, including office, convention, hotel, conference center and onsite as required
• Travel an estimated 25%
