EMPI Data Integrity Analyst - Night Shift

Job Title: EMPI Data Integrity Analyst – Night Shift Location: 2 Crescent Place, Oceanport, NJ 07757 Department: Medical Records Pay Range: $68,724.00 - $97,073.00 per year Status: Full‑Time, Salaried Shift: Night (11 PM to 7 AM EST) Schedule: Full‑time (37.5 hours weekly), Remote – must reside in NJ, PA, or NY. Job Overview The enterprise master patient index (EMPI) is a critical business function and patient safety resource. It links a patient to demographics, clinical and financial information. The EMPI must contain accurate, timely, and complete data, including a single identifier for each patient. The EMPI Data Integrity Analyst reviews, analyzes, and maintains patient data integrity within the EMPI for the RWJBH system, including remediation of duplicate medical record numbers, overlays, and correction of clinical and demographic information. Essential Functions Performs medical record number merges, patient data corrections, and medical record overlay corrections in accordance with RWJBH policies and procedures. Works from reports and queues to resolve all issues in a timely and accurate manner. Analyzes and performs merges, unmerges, overlays, and necessary chart corrections in EPIC My Chart, Care Everywhere, Care Link, SMART IX, and legacy systems. Proactively and independently solves problems, operating with a high level of accuracy. Exhibits excellence in communication, feedback, exactitude, and follow‑through with data, customers and peers, given the high level of patient safety risk. Ensures all parties involved in making corrections are promptly notified and follow through to ensure all corrections are executed timely. Communicates merges and system issues with the Data Integrity team and management. Processes requests for chart corrections and prioritizes them around patient care and safety. Analyzes and identifies root causes of data discrepancies and reports them to the Director of Data Integrity. Participates in process improvement activities, and the development and implementation of new products and systems. Compiles statistical data on a daily, weekly and monthly basis as outlined by the Director. Completes all assignments on a daily basis, noting any barriers or issues promptly. Advocates for patient rights and safety in all interactions with RWJBH entities, affiliates, community practices, and the public. Provides quality customer service and serves as an exemplary representative of the HIM Department. Participates on a rotating on‑call schedule to address high‑priority patient identity issues affecting patient care. Qualifications Required: 3-5 years of experience in healthcare HIM, IT. Required: Minimum of 5 years as a data analyst or performing EMPI remediation tasks for a healthcare organization. Required: Experience with hospital information systems such as EPIC, HPF, Star, 3M, Cerner, Optimum, SCM, etc., with emphasis on resolving duplicate medical record numbers. Required: Ability to analyze complex information and use problem‑solving skills to determine appropriate solutions and necessary merges to protect EMPI integrity. Required: Excellent verbal and communication skills, strong customer‑service skills, flexibility, adaptability, and ability to work independently or as part of a team with minimal supervision. Preferred: Associate’s Degree in Health Information Technology or Information Technology. Preferred: RHIT or RHIA certification. Preferred: Understanding of medical terminology.
