Stella Marine Services is seeking an experienced, hands-on  Boatyard Operations Manager to lead boatyard operations at Swan Creek Marina in Rock Hall, Maryland. This individual will oversee the safe and efficient haul-out, storage, maintenance, and launch of approximately 180 boats annually while managing a team of yard personnel.

The ideal candidate is an organized leader who is comfortable both managing people and operating heavy equipment. This position plays a critical role in ensuring customer boats are handled safely, projects stay on schedule, and the boatyard operates efficiently year-round.

Key Responsibilities:

Boatyard Operations

• Oversee all haul-outs, launches, and boat movements.
• Safely operate and supervise the operation of the marina's Travelift, hydraulic trailer, and related equipment.
• Coordinate seasonal haul-out and launch schedules to maximize efficiency and customer satisfaction.
• Manage vessel storage layouts and yard logistics.
• Ensure all boats are blocked, stored, and secured according to industry best practices.

Team Leadership

• Lead, train, and supervise boatyard personnel.
• Assign daily work priorities and monitor project progress.
• Promote a culture of safety, professionalism, and accountability.
• Assist with recruiting, onboarding, and developing team members.

Customer Service

• Work closely with service advisors, technicians, and marina management to ensure a positive customer experience.
• Address customer concerns in a professional and timely manner.

Safety & Compliance

• Maintain compliance with OSHA requirements and marina safety procedures.
• Conduct regular inspections of equipment and yard conditions.
• Ensure proper use and maintenance of all equipment.
• Participate in emergency response planning and incident reporting.

Equipment & Facility Management

• Oversee preventative maintenance and repairs of the Travelift, hydraulic trailer, forklifts, and other yard equipment.
• Monitor facility conditions and recommend capital improvements.
• Maintain clean, organized, and professional boatyard facilities.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in marina, boatyard, marine service, construction, heavy equipment, or related operational environments.
• Demonstrated leadership experience supervising teams and coordinating projects.
• Experience operating a Travelift, hydraulic trailer, forklift, crane, or similar heavy equipment strongly preferred.
• Strong organizational and scheduling skills.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Valid driver's license and clean driving record.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working on boats, marine systems, or vessel maintenance.
• Marine industry certifications or technical training.
• Experience managing seasonal workloads and customer projects.
• Knowledge of boat blocking, rigging, and vessel handling procedures.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to climb ladders and board vessels.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, and work outdoors for extended periods.
• Comfortable working around water, heavy machinery, and active marine operations.
