Industrial Process Piping Technician

Picture your morning on a busy job site: you open a set of crisp isometric drawings and start mapping the day’s build. You verify dimensions, mark out cuts, and select the right materials—carbon steel for durability, stainless for corrosion resistance, PVC/CPVC/HDPE for specialty systems, and copper where it counts. By midday, you’ve beveled, threaded, and dry-fit sections, coordinated rigging to move valves and specialties into place, and installed runs securely with clamps, hangers, and brackets. By day’s end, you’ve advanced a safe, clean, high-quality installation—whether working from prints or laying it out from experience.

What you’ll build

• Plan and install process piping systems from isometric, arrangement, and sketch drawings—confidently with or without full prints.
• Cut, clean, bevel, fit, and install pipe; prepare weld joints and apply a range of fittings and specialties.
• Lay out, rig, and move pipe, valves, and fittings; coordinate safe transport on and off site.
• Identify site obstructions and sequence work to minimize rework and maintain safety.
• Use grinders, band saws, beveling torches, and similar tools to make precise cuts.
• Thread pipe with threading machines and verify proper makeup and tolerances.
• Secure piping to structures using hangers, clamps, and brackets with hand and power tools.
• Assist with lifting, positioning, and securing materials during installation.
• Maintain tools and equipment to keep operations efficient and safe.

Tools and materials you’ll master

Valves and fittings across carbon steel, stainless steel, PVC, CPVC, HDPE, and copper systems; equipment such as pipe threaders, burning torches, grinders, porta-band saws, chain falls, hand tools, forklifts, and high-reach equipment.

How you’ll succeed

• Champion job-site safety and PPE protocols; communicate clearly with peers, supervisors, and clients.
• Stay flexible—travel and overtime may be required to meet project needs.
• Bring practical know-how on rigging, threading, cutting, and precision installation.

Job Requirements:

• Maintain strict adherence to safety rules and regulations. Including but not limited to wearing safety equipment such as safety glasses, face masks, gloves, work boots, harnesses and/or other required PPE relevant to job site.
• Willingness to travel as required.
• Possess valid identification to work in the United States.
• Ability to pass a drug screening and criminal background check.
• Knowledge on operating equipment including pipe threader, burning torch, grinder, porta-band machine, chain falls, hands tools, fork trucks, high reach equipment, etc.
• Able to effectively communicate with coworkers, supervisors, and clients.
• Willingness to work overtime when required

Physical demands

• Lift and carry up to 50 pounds; perform repetitive motions and fine hand work.
• Climb and access structural steel, ladders, and elevated work areas safely.

Background we’re looking for

• High school diploma or GED.
• 3–7 years of professional pipefitting experience.
