Step into a rewarding opportunity as a Special Education Teacher, making a meaningful difference by working with exceptional young learners in an early education setting. This is a full-time contract role providing specialized instruction for TK, Kindergarten, and 1st-grade students, with a classroom that prioritizes individualized support and collaboration. You’ll work alongside three dedicated paraprofessionals within a structured environment designed for student success.
Key Qualifications:
- Current, active California Moderate/Severe teaching credential required
- Experience with early elementary special education caseloads (TK/K/1st) preferred
- Strong classroom management skills and a collaborative approach with support staff
- Excellent communication abilities for effective interaction with students, families, and staff
- Commitment to fostering a nurturing and inclusive learning environment
Primary Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to each student’s needs
- Provide direct instruction, adapting lessons and activities for diverse learning styles
- Work closely with three paraprofessionals, delegating tasks and coordinating support
- Regularly assess student progress and maintain accurate documentation
- Engage with families and multidisciplinary teams to promote student growth
- Uphold compliance with state and federal special education guidelines
This contract runs from August 13, 2026, through June 4, 2027. The classroom cap is 12 students, providing the opportunity for truly individualized attention. Located in the San Leandro area, this position supports a vibrant learning community.
