Intake Coordinator Receptionist

Job Description Job Description Position Summary We are seeking a professional, organized, and detail-oriented Intake Coordinator / Receptionist to join our home health care team in Northwest Indiana. This role is responsible for managing incoming patient referrals, verifying insurance coverage, coordinating with hospitals and physician offices, and ensuring all required documentation is completed accurately and efficiently. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, strong administrative abilities, and the ability to work in a fast-paced healthcare environment while providing exceptional customer service. Key Responsibilities - Receive and process patient referrals from hospitals, nursing homes, clinics, and physician offices - Answer incoming phone calls and assist patients, families, and referral sources professionally - Verify patient insurance eligibility and benefits - Obtain and review required intake documentation for accuracy and completeness - Follow up with physicians' offices to obtain signatures, orders, and other necessary documentation - Maintain accurate patient records in compliance with HIPAA and company policies - Coordinate communication between clinical staff, referral sources, and patients - Track pending referrals and ensure timely completion of intake processes - Perform general receptionist and administrative duties as needed Qualifications - High school diploma or equivalent required - Previous experience in healthcare intake, medical reception, home health, or medical office administration preferred - Knowledge of insurance verification processes and medical terminology preferred - Strong computer and data entry skills - Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities - Professional communication and customer service skills - Ability to maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations - Experience working with EMR/EHR systems is a plus Skills & Attributes - Detail-oriented and highly organized - Dependable and professional - Ability to work independently and as part of a team - Strong follow-up and problem-solving skills - Compassionate and patient-focused attitude
