Job Title

Registered Nurse – ICU/PCU Float

Location

Roanoke, VA | Acute Care

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Nights | 3x12-hour shifts (6:45 PM – 7:15 AM)

Key Responsibilities

• Float between all ICU and PCU units as staffing needs are re-evaluated; candidates must be comfortable working across all ICU and PCU units, with potential to float up to every 4 hours per shift
• Provide advanced IV therapy including arterial line management, central/PICC line care, blood product administration, and IV initiation and maintenance
• Manage respiratory support including BiPAP, CPAP, and ventilated patient care
• Administer and titrate continuous IV sedation, emergency medications, and cardiac and vasoactive drips
• Perform cardiac monitoring including dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and adhere to IV insulin protocols
• Provide wound care for surgical wounds with drains or wound vacs; document all care using EPIC (required)

Required Qualifications

• Active Virginia state RN license or Compact RN license required; pending license accepted only if candidate holds a single-state license from a non-compact state
• ACLS , BLS , and NIHSS certifications required
• EPIC charting experience required
• ICU experience required; experience at a large Level I or Level II facility required
• Must be available to work every other weekend or up to 6 weekend shifts per 6-week scheduling block, and at least one holiday per 13-week contract
• Candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility are not accepted; candidates residing 50–99.9 miles away may be considered for one 13-week assignment with no eligibility to extend

Preferred Experience / Skills

• 2 or more years of ICU nursing experience preferred
• Experience in a high-acuity, high-volume acute care or trauma center environment
• Comfort with frequent floating and adapting quickly to varying patient populations and unit environments
