This employment opportunity is being recruited by Rady Children’s Hospital-San Diego on behalf of Children's Specialists of San Diego. The Division of Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition at Rady Children’s Hospital is looking for a full‑time Advanced Practice Practitioner to join our growing team providing care for children with gastrointestinal diseases. This position involves caring for patients with various gastrointestinal disorders in an outpatient setting and offers opportunities to specialize within gastroenterology in partnership with a physician. You will join a division of 24 physicians, 6 fellows, and 5 APPs, as well as a multidisciplinary team of dietitians, social workers, therapists, and a psychologist. You will work both as a solo practitioner and in tandem with a physician, making patient assessments, developing treatment plans, and assisting with overall patient care within a robust educational curriculum and engaged support staff. JOB SUMMARY – NURSE PRACTITIONER The Nurse Practitioner provides comprehensive physical assessment, treatment, psychosocial support, referral, and health education to children and families in clinical, school, and in‑home settings. The Nurse Practitioner functions as a primary care provider, clinical leader, educator, researcher, care coordinator, and consultant, working under the supervision of a physician. The role performs within the scope of licensures and in accordance with hospital policies. Some positions will be on call according to a predetermined schedule or as needed. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Master’s Degree in Nursing Current California Nurse Practitioner license Current CPR/BLS Certification for Healthcare Providers, issued by AHA Furnishing number, State of California – Must obtain within 1 year of employment DEA license for positions that require the writing of scheduled medications – Must obtain within 1 year of employment Medicare Billing number (NPI – National Provider Identifier) – Must obtain within 6 months of employment Certification: Nurse Practitioner, National – Must obtain within 1 year of employment Successful completion of the credentialing process through Medical Staff Services Successful completion of the requirements of the delegations of Services for the assigned division PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Two years of experience in clinical nursing with an emphasis in a specialty area Experience in specialty area as a Nurse Practitioner Formal in‑service education and/or lecturing skills Bilingual skills desired JOB SUMMARY – PHYSICIAN ASSISTANT The Physician Assistant provides comprehensive physical assessment, treatment, psychosocial support, referral, and health education to children and families in clinical, school, and in‑home settings under the supervision of a licensed physician.
