Registered Nurse In Emergency Room (ER)

The position requires the clinician to float within a designated zone covering a 60-mile radius. Candidates are expected to manage a diverse range of patient conditions, including abdominal pain, diabetes, non-ST elevation myocardial infarction, pneumonia, trauma, stroke, and hypertension. Nurse-to-patient ratios will be 1:4-5 based on acuity. Required certifications include ACLS, BLS, PALS, NIHSS, and TNCC. The role involves working with various medical staff, including charge nurses who will take an assignment. Support staff will include technologists who assist with unit tasks and triage. Respiratory therapy will be available 24/7, and RNs will be trained to perform point-of-care lab testing. The role does not include a monitor tech, so RNs must be able to read and interpret telemetry strips. X-ray or CT transport is managed accordingly. Phlebotomy will be performed by the nursing staff. Scheduling is based on departmental needs, and weekend and holiday work will be required on an alternating basis. Self-scheduling and block scheduling are not an option; leadership will create the schedule based on requirements. This position involves floating within the zone's emergency departments. A float assignment will be communicated on or before the start date. The facility may cancel up to four shifts within a 13-week assignment. The charting system used is EPIC. A Bachelor of Science in Nursing is not required for this role.
