Job OverviewThe Senior Director has primary operational responsibility and accountability for eight business functions within the Ambulatory and Surgery Center: (1) Excellence and Care Delivery, (2) Customer and Support Services, (3) Finance and Accounting, (4) Marketing, Sales and Physician Relationships, (5) Human Resources, (6) Compliance and Risk Management, (7) Surgical Services, and (8) Gastroenterology. Specific duties include coordination, consistency, and integration in the operation of each accountable area, development and implementation of policies & procedures, budgeting and leading and/or participating in improvement projects/teams. Serves as a leader to all medical staff, surgery center, gastroenterology, endoscopy, OR and Anesthesia related business activities and marketing efforts. Encourage continued harmonious relations with nursing staff to establish and maintain close practice and identify and follow established written surgery center procedures and policies. The Senior Director works closely with the Vice Presidents, Service Line Directors, Supervisors, and Staff to execute established business processes; seeking, assessing, and leveraging process improvement opportunities and, ensuring that business activities are aligned with and result in achievement of the organizations strategic objectives. The Senior Director must be a champion for process improvement and will serve as an engaged and active partner with the Perioperative Enterprise Domain representing the Ambulatory Service Center. within and between units, departments, and services.Coordinates activities, workflows, policies, and procedures with system peri-op leadership to promote standardization.Recognizes lack of execution in existing processes and takes action to address the issues and achieve expected results.Uses quality improvement tools and techniques to assess work issues and make process improvements.Provides the to generate system-wide process improvements.Sets appropriate priorities among competing demands.Creatively manages resources and staffing issues.Serves as the Regulatory Liaison, Joint Commission Lead, and Compliance Lead for the campus.Directs, coordinates, and ensures surgical department compliance with standards and regulations that originate from accrediting bodies and state and federal agencies.Uses available information technology to support day-to-day work operations.Actively participates in assigned management, surgery center, and medical staff meetings/committees and projects.Develops, interprets, and maintains administrative and nursing care policies and procedures.Defines the scope of services and responsibilities of the professional and para-professional roles within areas of responsibility.Designs appropriate staffing models and manages staffing skill mix, productivity trends, needs and requirements.Develops and implements current cycle and long-term initiatives to achieve strategic objectives and performance excellence.Monitors key business metrics.Identifies trends and develops plans to prepare for opportunities or problems.Persists in meeting established timelines and deadlines.Works cooperatively with others to produce innovative solutions.Establishes structures and processes to plan and manage the orderly implementation of change.Takes the lead in setting new business directions, partnerships, policies or procedures.Focuses on customersUnderstands the importance of customer service.Sets an example of exemplary customer techniques.Ensures that proper equipment and other resources are in place.Clinical Practice Standards:Determines and implements evidence based clinical practice standards.Utilizes external benchmarks in delivering quality patient care.Uses clinical quality data to drive the staff clinical competencies and promotes progression from novice to expert level.Aligns training needs to strategic planning, matches competency to anticipated service goals.Promotes innovation and generates new business ideas by thinking outside the box.Strategic PlanningActs to align area goals with the strategic direction of specialty operations and service linesEnsures that area develops goals and a plan to help fulfill the M Health Fairview mission.Utilizes marketplace analysis in responding to growth and service needs of the communities we serve.Develops and proposes a long-term strategy for the center based on analysis of current and potential capabilities as compared to competitors.Required QualificationsM.A./M.S. in Leadership, Business Administration, Nursing, Healthcare Administration, or related field5 years in healthcare5 years progressive managementAbility to communicate effectively in front of large groups.Ability to analyze and synthesize a broad range of data elements.Ability to work effectively with and integrate interests of multiple disciplines.Ability to develop and nurture physician relationships in a variety of practice areas, including Perioperative, Orthopedics, Family Practice, Internal Medicine, Neurology, Pediatrics, etc.Demonstrated skills in human resources management, interpersonal communications, financial management, risk management, regulatory compliance and program development.Entrepreneurial and market orientation including high
